Yet Another Update: Kicking "Tealers" Down the Memory Hole (See Below)

Some years ago, when I was doing the Flower of Life teacher training with Drunvalo Melchizedek, one of my fellow travelers shared with me that he was troubled by what he called the "Drunvalettes." The term was his own invention but there was no mistaking his meaning. He even pegged a few of our classmates with that term. He liked Drunvalo quite a bit but that there was this kind of adulation by some Flower of Life folks made him uncomfortable. He had some concern that Drunvalo might have been fostering this unquestioning sycophancy. So one day when we were enjoying a break, he asked Drunvalo very directly how he felt about his Drunvalettes.

Dru shook his head and sighed. "I just try to stay out of it," he said.

That's one approach. There's a conversation to be had, for sure, about whether ignoring the phenomenon and trying to distance oneself from it is enough. Is it necessary to more actively discourage such behavior? But I think the one thing we were all in agreement on -- Drunvalo, myself, and the gentleman who raised the concern -- was that such hero worship was not a good or healthy thing.

The term "tealer" has similarly been thrown around to describe those who've drunk the "teal-aid." Some of her more passionate and angry defenders who've posted on my blog have been quite pejoratively labeled "tealers" by other commenters. So imagine my horror when I read this in a recent TEAL post about her seminar in Atlanta.

I am struck by how much the imprint of the days of slavery still remains on some of the older buildings and railways here in town. It has soaked its way especially into the old wood that dots the brick walls. The venue for yesterday’s workshop was one such a building. It was a fitting energy, seeing as how the theme of the entire workshop was self-liberation.

This group which is being called the “Tealers” is the most open minded, eccentrically intellectual group I have ever beheld.  I think it is now my favorite part of holding these workshops.  Long-term friendships are formed.  People find their place to belong. And I get to witness the fact that this world is in good hands.  All across the globe, they form a supportive web of awakening.  They touch the lives of the people in the cities they live in.  It is like a little legion of enlightened spirits, whose practice is that of non-resistance and expansion.

You're Freeeee! Wait. Not so fast.

TEAL's posts are always a box of contradictions. The scenery is beautiful. The people are lovely. The town oozes its fetid history from every nook and cranny. Life is beautiful and filled with joy. I wander through a briar patch of PTSD triggers that hurl me into seizures and despair. My life is so rich and full that I've written a how-to book on self-love. Everything reminds me of my ritual abuse and being sewn into corpses.

And, bonus! This post comes with a healthy dose of bigotry... and, for good measure, a naked lady.

But I digress. She actually wants "tealers." It's positively Orwellian. You too can be liberated if only you will define yourself by your adoration of TEAL.

As I said in my first post on the topic, I have never seen a spiritual teacher who has so blatantly courted adulation and fostered dependency. What I've learned two posts and volumes of feedback later is that it's so much worse than I thought.

Recently, yet another TEAL related Facebook group launched: Teal Tribe Dating. That might not be so bad right? A nice little meeting place for people of similar interests under her general auspices. But then I read the copy.

Teal Tribe Dating

"Teal Tribe Dating" is a group for human beings(Well... at least in the 3D) who are single and looking for a loving relationship with a like-minded partner. Teal Tribe turned out to be an easy awesome way for people who are familiar with Teal to find their true friends and soul family, and now you have a chance to meet your true love too. That idea works by the law of attraction: The vibration in this group is high because of the high vibrational message of Teal Scott; Which means meeting high quality and spiritual-minded people. To break the ice, here is a suggestion for introducing yourself:

. . .

Favorite Teal's Video/Art/Quotes:

*To search for profiles go into the 'Photos' tab and click the desired category... [All emphases mine]

Yes, you are part of an elite group of "high vibrational" people because you like TEAL. TEAL's followers are your true soul family. And you can all bond based on your shared devotion to TEAL. You can even find the love of your life as long as it's really all about ♥ TEAL ♥.

This all looks more and more cultish by the day. I can't help thinking of the Moonies and their arranged, mass weddings.

Obviously, Teal Tribe is not a cult like Unification, Hare Krishna, or other highly organized groups. It's not a totalitarian regime. But there are definitely cultish elements. It's enough, in my mind, to be concerning. I say this, in part, because of what I'm hearing from people, publicly and privately, about having difficulty extricating loved ones or even disengaging themselves from her strange pull.

Much of the feedback I've gotten has been from people who described themselves as having been "obsessed" with TEAL, or words very much to that effect. Some said their interest moved rapidly from interest in what she was saying to fascination with her and the soap opera that is her life.

That she turned her life into a kind of reality show called Shadow House, which opened a window into her "intentional family," fed the fascination. Her life is decidedly more interesting than her spiritual teachings. It's full of sex, fights, verbal abuse, and melodrama. Some of these programs made viewers privy to things like TEAL's humiliation of the aforementioned Fallon and also of a gal named Cameron, whose major crime appears to have been that Blake was attracted to her. The fourth wall was torn down completely as viewers made the whole thing interactive. The audience participation portion involved TEAL fans taking to chat, Facebook, and Teal Tribe to verbally assault these people for their grievous mistreatment of TEAL. Anyone who questioned TEAL's treatment of them was likewise set upon by the group.

Anyone who has ever witnessed the vitriol that TEAL inspires in her fans when they seek to defend her would have to wonder just what is meant by "high vibrational."

As I said in that first post, the Fallon episode suggested the confessional element of cult behavior referenced by Robert J. Lifton, as Fallon opened himself to group abasement for his "sociopathic" behavior. As I've learned more about these Shadow House livestreams from those who've viewed them, I've realized that it fits that criterion even more directly than I'd first thought. In Shadow House events, TEAL puts her "family" members in the hot seat and scrutinizes their shadows. Any viewer of these broadcasts would become privy to very personal, private information about her inner circle. According to many accounts, Cameron was compelled to participate over her objections. It ended badly and ultimately caused her to quit the area. This description of the confession element of cult indoctrination is adapted from Lifton.

Sins, as defined by the group, are to be confessed either to a personal monitor or publicly to the group. There is no confidentiality: members' sins, attitudes, and faults are discussed and exploited by the leaders.

Closely related to the demand for absolute purity is an obsession with personal confession. Confession is carried beyond its ordinary religious, legal, and therapeutic expressions to the point of becoming a cult in itself. (Page 425.)

Public confessional periods are used to get members to verbalize and discuss their innermost fears and anxieties as well as past imperfections.

The environment demands that personal boundaries are destroyed and that every thought, feeling, or action that does not conform with the group's rules be confessed.

Members have little or no privacy, physically or mentally.

In assessing the shadows of her housemates, TEAL relies heavily on Byron Katie's "The Work" for methodology. Katie is, herself, on the radar of cult watchers and accounts of her antics certainly do raise an eyebrow. For instance, she also does a homeless exercise very like, if not identical to, the one practiced by James Arthur Ray that resulted in the mysterious death of Colleen Conaway.

I would encourage those familiar with TEAL's organization to look over some of the cult literature linked herein. These two pages include characteristics identified by a number of cult researchers: Intro to Cults 101 and Cult Characteristics. I'm not as acquainted with the inner workings of TEAL world as many readers are but even I can see that these pages point to any number of red flags.

For instance  Rick Ross claims, "Anything the group/leader does can be justified no matter how harsh or harmful." TEAL's vicious attacks on Fallon and Cameron as well as other thoroughly embarrassing Shadow House outbursts are not only justified but extolled as a virtue. TEAL is courageously showing the world her shadow side instead of hiding it like typical gurus, it is claimed.

Cults are typically formed around charismatic leadership. Lifton observed, "The guru is worshipped, rather than the principles or doctrines (on which the sect is supposed to be based)." As stated, for many of TEAL's followers, the days and nights of Teal Bosworth Scott Swan have upstaged her spiritual teachings. She has made her personal life a major focus of her work, with her Shadow House livestream events and her confessional style blogging.

The American Family Foundation says, "The group is focused on a living leader to whom members seem to display excessively zealous, unquestioning commitment." As discussed, her defenders are passionate, indeed, as I and other critics have learned the hard way.

Carol Giambavo puts it like this: "Charismatic or messianic leader who is self-appointed and has a special mission in life." To say that TEAL is self-appointed and has announced a "special mission" would be to understate her accounting. As discussed, she has described herself as a Eucharist projected here by an Arcturian panel and genetically engineered to be white and beautiful enough to be heard on "every single continent."

This, again, is the interview in which she explains in painful detail why it was so critical that she have universally appealing features. But not only is she more attractive than those poor, ugly African women, she's not like the rest of us mere mortals at all. She's not even really human.

(9:30) So I am a soul fork. What that means is from nonphysical energy -- so most people in the planet, they're non-physical energy that is projected forth into a physical human body. I am non-physical energy that is perfect-projected forth into an Arcturian body -- an extraterrestrial body. Now that extraterrestrial being has chosen to then project forth as a human body twelve times. This is the twelfth incarnation. And it's quite, it's quite funny, ironically, because before I even came down, um, there was an entire panel of beings, Arcturian beings, sixth dimensional beings, who even chose the way I would look in this life....

(16:15) I'm now three points of perspective. Most people are two. Most people are the higher self and their human perspective, two points of perspective. I'm three, human, extraterrestrial, and nonphysical.

Special. She's very, very special. She also has no idea what irony means, because there is nothing in that story that is remotely ironic.

By virtue of her specialness, her followers are also special. As stated, they are "high vibrational."

As per the American Family Foundation, "The group is elitist, claiming a special, exalted status for itself, its leader(s), and members (for example: the leader is considered the Messiah or an avatar; the group and/or the leader has a special mission to save humanity)."

You mean like a "supportive web of awakening" or a "little legion of enlightened spirits" who are devoted to an Arcturian projecting into human flesh to act as a Eucharist?

"Tealers" and "Teal Tribe Dating" members are told they've found their "place to belong" and their "true friends and soul family." It sounds an awful lot like the "love bombing" described by the Cult Information Centre: "Creating a sense of family and belonging through hugging, kissing, touching and flattery."

According to  the American Family Foundation, "Questioning, doubt, and dissent are discouraged or even punished." Or as Steven Hassan puts it, "No critical questions about leader, doctrine, or policy seen as legitimate."

Many people report having had their comments deleted from TEAL's blog, when they raised uncomfortable questions or pointed out discrepancies. References to these deletions -- or having such comments held up in moderation -- are peppered throughout the comments on the two previous posts. Notably, a frequent commenter on TEAL's blog named Lena had her account deleted with her entire comment history. When this deletion was called out in the comments on my blog and then by regulars on TEAL's blog, Blake finally responded. He claimed that it was an error on the part of an overzealous admin who did so out of love for TEAL. I asked Blake to explain how it was that his claimed no-censorship policy was never adequately communicated to the admin and why it was that so many reported having been censored. That was weeks ago. He has never responded to my query. That exchange, such as it was, can be found here.

More to the point, consider how TEAL has responded to the questions I have raised in my two posts. She has called me a "hater" who "crawled out of the woodwork" to try to co-opt her growing fame. She has accused me of causing her great emotional pain. Her posts in response to my questions serve to polarize her most devoted followers against the very act of raising questions or having doubts. It solidifies an "us vs. them" attitude towards anyone who would dare question, which Hassan identifies as one of the methods of "thought control."

"Whenever the group/leader is criticized or questioned it is characterized as 'persecution'," says Rick Ross. In TEAL's case, it's morphing into paranoia. In a recent post, she cites her critics as justification for ramping up the already very noticeable security.

I’m sure some people are wondering why I bother having security personnel at my workshops if I teach (and believe) the concept of “I create my own reality”.  So I wanted to explain it to you.

. . .

Part of the contrast involved with fame is the contrast of having “haters” and “antagonists”.  We chose the potential of this contrast before even coming into this life.  We chose it for the sake of our own expansion.  The experience of these types of interactions and people, leads to the desire and therefore creation of staying true to ourself regardless of opposition, benevolence, unity, appreciative focus and love within our own lives and within the universe.  This is part of why we chose the “fame path” to begin with over other paths we could have chosen.

Another cult indicator is a lack of fiscal transparency. As Rick Ross puts it, there is "No meaningful financial disclosure regarding budget, expenses such as an independently audited financial statement." The billboard campaign is illustrative. After a number of people mentioned in comments on my blog that they wondered what had happened to all the donations to this project, the issue magically appeared in a new blog post. (That there is a call and response thing going on between my blog and her posts has been noted repeatedly.) But this explanation was at least a day late and a buck or two short.

As per usual, there is an enormous learning curve with any new endeavor.  The first crowd funding campaign we did accomplished almost nothing.  The perks we offered turned out to be almost as expensive to create and provide as the money people were donating.  On top of that, one of the people helping with the campaign, offered a perk that wasn’t his to offer due to a copyright someone else had on his work, so we ended up being forced to pay a bunch of money to a third party person for a perk that had already been delivered.  In the end, we made too little money in profits to accomplish many of our goals.  But having learned our lesson the hard way, we are planning in the near future to start another campaign with the very same aim.

So, it would appear that TEAL's idea of financial disclosure goes something like this: All that money you all donated? It's pretty much gone with nothing to show for it. Can we have some more?

Use of "deception" in recruiting and fundraising is cited by Hasssan, Giambalvo, and the U of C, but it also kind of goes without saying, doesn't it? Aside from the murkiness about people's donations, there's a lot about TEAL's claims that raises questions. Of course, whether or not she was specially designed by an Arcturian panel is a little hard to validate one way or the other. Such "revealed knowledge" is integral to many a religious experience but the difficulty in fact-checking means we accept it on faith or we don't.

But there is also a lack of empirical proof to things like her very central claim of Satanic ritual abuse. Many such claims were made in the 80s and 90s. But TEAL herself admits that there's no evidence other than the say-so of victims like herself and claims that most of those are too terrified to come forward.

As I wrote before, to TEAL's great consternation, the FBI investigated claims of Satanic ritual abuse and found there was no real evidence. Psychologists and other experts who testified in court cases against abusers have since been discredited and largely discounted as it's come to light that false memories can be implanted during therapy. That said, a great deal of TEAL's narrative comes apart if that doesn't happen to be true. In fairness, she may believe it whether or not it's true.

When I was looking into Byron Katie for this post, I came across another troubling bit of information. Her story of awakening and TEAL's are strikingly similar. Both involve insects which inspired radical shifts in perspective during very dark passages in their lives.

TEAL's story of the "little ant" that awakened her to the awareness of life teeming merrily all around her even as she was confined to a hole by her Mormon Satanist abuser starts at about the 17:00 minute mark. The inappropriate laughter as she begins to tell it is particularly jarring.

Byron Katie's story of awakening while staring at a cockroach can be found here.

Less than two weeks after I entered the halfway house, my life changed completely. What follows is a very approximate account.

One morning I woke up. I had been sleeping on the floor as usual. Nothing special had happened the night before; I just opened my eyes. But I was seeing without concepts, without thoughts or an internal story. There was no me. It was as if something else had woken up. It opened its eyes. It was looking through Katie's eyes. And it was crisp, it was clear, it was new, it had never been here before. Everything was unrecognizable. And it was so delighted! Laughter welled up from the depths and just poured out. It breathed and was ecstasy. It was intoxicated with joy: totally greedy for everything. There was nothing separate, nothing unacceptable to it. Everything was its very own self. For the first time I — it — experienced the love of its own life. I — it —was amazed

In trying to be as accurate as possible, I am using the word “it” for this delighted, loving awareness, in which there was no me or world, and in which everything was included. There just isn't another way to say how completely new and fresh the awareness was. There was no I observing the “it.” There was nothing but the “it.” And even the realization of an “it” came later.

Let me say this in a different way. A foot appeared; there was a cockroach crawling over it. It opened its eyes, and there was something on the foot; or there was something on the foot, and then it opened its eyes — I don't know the sequence, because there was no time in any of this. So, to put it in slow motion: it opened its eyes, looked down at the foot, a cockroach was crawling across the ankle, and … it was awake! It was born. And from then on, it's been observing. But there wasn't a subject or an object. It was — is — everything it saw. There's no separation in it, anywhere.

In the midst of this experience, the four questions that would go on to define "The Work" were born: Is it true or can I really know that it's true? How do I react when I think that thought? Can I find one peaceful reason to believe that thought? Who would I be without the thought?

So, here we have two women, in the depths of despair, after years of suffering, who both realized they could simply shift their perspective while staring at bugs. It's a little coincidental, doncha think? And Byron Katie is one of the only sources TEAL acknowledges drawing from.

I still have a hard time seeing how either of these teachings differ from telling people they can heal themselves through willful denial, but that's probably a discussion for another day.

"To us it's all about truth. And we have an addiction to it. We have this absolute addiction. Worldwide addiction to the idea that we have to know what is true, which is just ridiculous. Because most of us are killing ourselves with what we think is true. So the question is why do you want truth to begin with? I want truth 'cause I think I will be happier if I have truth. Okay, well what if the truth is this and that makes you feel like crap. Does that really make you feel better? Why are we going about it the long way? Why not just decide that what matters is that you feel good? It's the only reason you want truth anyway. And most of the time when people realize that, life becomes a bit more soft. You know? It becomes a bit more about does this benefit me, not is it true." ~ TEAL

It has been suggested by many people, myself included, that TEAL sounds an awful lot like Abraham-Hicks. But TEAL says no. At around minute 20:00 in the Nova Zem interview posted above, she says she'd only learned about Abraham channeler Esther Hicks about a year before because "someone" who was listening to her drew the comparison. She gives Abraham-Hicks a pat on the head for being the "most accurate" of channelers but this comes in the midst of her explaining why what she does is so much better than channeling. She really is a higher consciousness being. She's not just channeling one, which is all we ordinary humans can do.

That interview took place in March of 2013. But Blake Dyer, who is pretty much her right hand, knew about the Abraham teachings at least as far back as March of 2011, two years, not one year before. Now is it possible that there's some confusion about the dates? Sure. Is it possible that she and Blake didn't confer? Maybe. Is it possible that it's entirely coincidental that TEAL's teachings are "effectively identical" to those of Abraham-Hicks, as a commenter noted in response to Blake? I guess it's possible. What is stranger is just how it is that we know Blake was familiar with Abraham-Hicks in March of 2011. It's because we know to a near certainty that Blake was at that time doing a lot of his TEAL promotion under the name of Jason Freedman, who wrote this comment on an Abraham-Hicks discussion forum.

Hello all,
I am a free lance journalist who is a long time devotee of a teacher called Teal Scott (The spiritual catalyst)
When I was discussing Teal's teachings to a friend a while back, they said wow... That sounds just like what Abraham is saying. So, I decided to check it out.
I love the messages of both these Teachers (which are so very similar) I can't tell you the good it has brought to my life. I believe we are presented teachers just when we need them most.

How do we know that this Jason Freedman was actually Blake? Therein hangs a tale.

Soon after I did my first post on the woman then known as Teal Scott, a gentleman commenting under the moniker Mykeyta offered some background. He had once considered her ex-husband Mark Scott a good friend. Blake Dyer had also been a friend. The friendships were strained by his growing discomfort with TEAL's many claims and their absorption in her ambition. When an opinion piece was published in the local paper, discussing TEAL's claims of Satanic ritual abuse, he was troubled by the swarm attack on the editor who wrote it and any other commenter who didn't accept her story at face value. More than one of them were evocative of his friend Blake so he came to the conclusion that TEAL's "army" was largely made up of sock puppets. In particular there are several comments in that thread by Jason Freedman. Mykeyta found that Mr. Freedman had written the "puff piece" I mentioned in that post. He also noted that the picture of Mr. Freedman looked an awful lot like Blake Dyer. He called the number listed for Mr. Freedman and found that he also sounded a lot like Blake Dyer.

I don't know Mykeyta any better than I know TEAL or Blake Dyer or anyone else in their sphere, but to me his story had the ring of truth. More than TEAL's stories do at any rate. A photo taken from a distance in front of the Great Wall of China -- a place he knew Blake had been -- and his account of vocal recognition make for an intriguing story, but they're not evidence.

Flash forward to a couple of days ago when, on my second blog post on the subject, Mykeyta recounted the story to someone who very understandably hadn't read the 1000+ comments on these two posts. Another person called Ima Guest had been having trouble posting some comments due to computer issues but emailed me something more like documentary proof that Blake Dyer and Jason Freedman are one and the same. And it all comes down to that phone number.

Here's the number for Jason Freedman:

I think it's pretty safe to say at this point that Jason Freedman is Blake Dyer.

This would mean that Blake Dyer, under a pseudonym, wrote up an interview with a former girlfriend to promote a business, Teal Eye LLC, of which he is the Director. He did not disclose his close association with TEAL or her business. Instead he posed as a fictional reporter "who writes for periodicals both nationally and internationally," but whose byline, strangely, only seems to bring up that one story in searches.

Worse, he used this fake persona, once again, to comment on the Herald Journal piece where he argued from authority as a reporter with a twenty year career. These comments appear alongside other comments from sundyer, Blake's official moniker, and who knows how many other socks.

Mr. Freedman wrote three comments in response to that column. They are the only comments he has  posted to date to the Herald Journal.

His first comment, posted at 10:25 am on Mon, Mar 28, 2011:

I'm totally appalled by the mocking and disbelieving tone of this article. "Just another reader" and "Bluto" and "DL in Den"... you are full of crap. I have worked for 20 years in investigative journalism,. I have seen reports like this one float across the desks of reporters only to be ignored because no one likes to touch these stories. Not because they are not true but because society is not ready to face the bitter reality that it does happen and did happen this time. Society's blind ignorance to this happening is why it continues to happen. I'm totally Ashamed that any of you would think this woman would have anything to gain from telling her story. Instead, she risks everything. She risks her own safety, credibility and connection by admitting these things. Women like her are the rare, brave, exception to the rule of silent victims. Anyone who does not stand beside her participates in silencing victims and therefore siding with perpetrators everywhere. Perpetrators BANK on victims being discredited as some of you have done.
SHAME ON YOU FOR YOUR IGNORANCE AND THE HARM IT CAUSES.
the only reason the columnist mentioned her book (which aside from the foreword has nothing to do with abuse) is because he saw an interview with her in it talking about the book on Park City TV. The book is the reason he even heard this story.
He admitted this himself.
I thought this editor did an injustice to victims everywhere by releasing this column with a "tale tale" tone to it.
That was the only thing "LAME" about this article.
I'm embarrassed to be human today having read some of the un supportive comments that are being written about this.

His second comment, posted at 6:57 pm on Mon, Mar 28, 2011:

I got very upset about that. I did not mean to be insulting. The issue is this... I happen to have done a lot of journalism in jails where I talked to three separate prisoners who confessed to me directly about how they would go about mentally programming children. I have heard it from the horse's mouth. Not the victim's mouths.

His third comment, posted at 9:02 am on Tue, Mar 29, 2011:

The only reason I can see for people to be so adamant to discredit claims of ritual abuse is if they themselves where practicing participants.

Mr. Freedman also wrote a letter to the editor, making basically the same case.

In response to the article titled “Claims of local torture cult got this editor’s attention,” featured March 27, I am appalled by the disbelieving tone of the article addressing the ritual abuse suffered by the subject of the aforementioned article, “Teal Scott.” I am a freelance journalist who has seen reports of ritual abuse in our state float across the desks of reporters and be ignored for 20 years. This ignorance to the validity of these stories is exactly why they continue to happen in our community. As a result of this article, I have researched Teal Scott myself only to find that she is not to be discredited. It is time that the citizens of Utah came out of ignorance about the ritual abuse (especially satanic ritual abuse) that continues to go on in the state and stood behind those who are brave enough to come out of hiding and say something about it.

If Blake and Freedman are one and the same, as they surely appear to be, that would mean that in order to attack and shame people for questioning the veracity of TEAL's story, he's adopted a fake persona and proffered as evidence prison interviews that never happened during a journalism career history he's made up. Blake Dyer has raised mendacity to an art form.

Pay attention, TEAL. That is irony.

Speaking for myself, a realization of that kind of fraud would cause me to become disillusioned. Disillusionment is painful, but I prefer it to the alternative -- believing in an illusion. I guess I'm one of those people who's addicted to truth.

I have experienced similar disillusionment. I have learned to my great dismay that teachers I have followed were not what they appeared to be and even that they were baldfaced liars. I have discovered that I was being manipulated and mislead. It was painful. It did not "feel good" to learn it. I'm still glad I learned it because it freed me up to seek elsewhere for spiritual education and guidance.

And I have felt very foolish. Like many people, I used to think that I was too smart to fall for con artists and cult leaders. I was wrong. It was humbling. But humility is a great place from which to start over.

"When I hear someone say that only stupid people fall for fraud, I feel like asking for that person’s phone number. But here’s the thing: I didn’t want to talk to stupid people, because stupid people don’t have $50,000 lying around to give me. You would be amazed at how many doctors, lawyers, engineers, and college professors I have ripped off. The bottom line is, fraud is a crime that can happen to anyone, given the right con artist and a victim with the right set of circumstances." ~ The Anonymous Confessions of a Con Artist

In the comments, following my last post on TEAL, a woman named Becky asked what I and other commenters recommended for spiritual guidance and inspiration to fill the gap left by TEAL. It was a good conversation that can be read in full starting on the first page of comments on that post. I'd like to address it here because my rather lengthy attempt to address it in the comments was eaten by blogger. But also because I think it's a good jumping off point to a larger conversation about healing after this kind of disillusionment.

I was thinking about how defensive people get on the whole Teal subject, and why that is... It occurs to me that maybe it's because in a way she gives a lot of people hope. People hear her story and feel empowered by it, if she can "beat those odds" maybe they can too.

I think they start to get angry because they might feel betrayed by Teal when the story starts to fall apart, and that hopeless feeling starts to return. That's probably a space a lot of people don't want to go back to, so they live in denial about the story crumbling, but they still have to direct that anger somewhere.

Somehow the phrase "Don't shoot the messenger" comes to mind. A lot of people are taking this stuff very personally and it might be a good idea to ask why that is?

I was just thinking about my thought process through all of this, how my emotions came into play when I was trying to figure out where I stand on all this Teal stuff.
I guess I'm asking, what else has helped you, what gives you hope? What inspires you? What's helped you grow as a person?

I'm curious about what resources you trust that you would direct people to if they wanted better themselves, but didn't necessarily know where to go?

What she is describing in the first part of that comment is cognitive dissonance and it's key to understanding manipulation and indoctrination. Leon Festinger did the seminal research in the 1950s. I touched on this briefly here, as well. Festinger theorized that people are most comfortable when their thoughts, feelings, and actions, are all congruent. Among other things, this means that we are strongly motivated to continue believing falsehoods if no longer believing them comes into conflict with life choices we've made, money we've laid out, and happiness we've attained by believing in them. So very often we will cleave to the falsehood with greater ferocity to protect our own sense of inner harmony.

I am always a little reticent to make general recommendations because there is no one size fits all when it comes to spiritual teaching. In particular, when a person is coming out of a situation where someone has been abusing spiritual authority, as I believe TEAL does, the last thing I want to do is run the risk of further over-running instincts that may be quite damaged.

I will tell readers what I tell my clients. My recommendations are my opinion. If what I say doesn't feel right for you, disregard it.

If you are coming out of any abusive situation, spiritual or otherwise, there is probably soul loss. For that I recommend soul retrieval. I had several soul retrievals with a skilled shaman. They helped me to restore parts lost to abusive teachers and healers. They also helped to restore missing parts that had left me vulnerable to such influences in the first place. They helped, period. My path takes me through shamanism and indigenous teachings so that work is a fit for me. The seminal book on the topic is Soul Retrieval by Sandra Ingerman. For more information, a good resource is Christina Pratt's internet radio show, Why Shamanism Now? The entire catalog can be heard for free on iTunes and other streaming sources. Finding information on some of the relevant broadcasts can be found by searching the word retrieval on my Celestial Reflections blog.

Another great resource for restoring the soul and repairing damaged instincts is Women Who Run With the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estés. I call it, among other things, therapy in a book. It really walks you through a process. I've written more about that book and the power of story here and here.

Mostly, I recommend following your nose and seeing where it leads you. It's just a good idea to get in touch with your instincts and learn to trust your sense of smell first. Christina Pratt talks about bouncing everything off your "truth cord." It helps if you've located that line that runs right through your core.

In much of the developed world, we've been raised to think of God and the paths to God as outside of ourselves and dependent on spiritual authority. We've been acculturated to seek the teacher who speaks with certitude based on things only he or she could know and, as such, bestow upon us. But I think argument from authority is a logical fallacy and have learned to avoid such teachers like the plague. This, in part, is why the "cosmic answer lady" persona in the Ask Teal videos is something I find so off-putting. I don't trust ex cathedra teachings.

Spiritual guidance should take you inward. It should foster your personal relationship with spirit. It shouldn't be about the teacher. No teacher should be giving you answers. They should only be teaching you how to learn.

I don't recommend authors and teachers who tell you that spiritual development is simple, particularly if they give x number of steps. To quote Joseph Campbell, “If you can see your path laid out in front of you step by step, you know it's not your path. Your own path you make with every step you take. That's why it's your path.”

There are any number of authors and thinkers I could point to who delight, inform, and inspire me. Their names are peppered throughout my writings. But when I really think about what inspires me, it's not a person. It's spirit. It's my personal relationship with my guides and the pathway to the numinous that runs right up the center of my being. It's the amusing game of finding Easter eggs hidden in the most unexpected books and movies that my guides point me to. It's those moments of reverie that come simply because I am staring at a piece of art or listening to music. It's the constant reminders from the spirit world that even when I think I'm running my own life, I'm not. I'm being led by the hand by something so much wiser than I am and that it is that inner compass that has told me to pick up a certain book or watch a particular movie or go to a certain place at a certain time. I have incredible gratitude to teachers and healers I've worked with like Virginia Sandlin and Christina Pratt. But in the end what I am grateful for is that they consistently pointed me not towards themselves but towards my own connection with all that is.

Addendum: My two previous posts on TEAL are worth reading for additional background and for the phenomenal discussions that have taken place in the comments:

Who and What is Teal Scott
The Artist Formerly Known as Teal Scott

Update: "The Noncasts"

In March of this year, TEAL and her new husband Sarbdeep Swan introduced a new video series called "Tea Time with Teal" -- not Tea Time with The Swans, mind you. TEAL is still the staaahhh! Only her name can appear on the marquee. I think it's in her contract.

These weekly episodes are called "podcasts" but aren't anything of the kind. Whereas podcasts are hosted on a platform, such as iTunes, so that they can be easily downloaded, kept, and enjoyed on other devices, these are just more garden variety YouTube videos. Podcasts are designed to be accessible, easily disseminated, and portable.

Ironically (note the correct use of this word), these not-podcasts are announced only to an email list, are posted on a hidden, unlinked page on her website, and the YouTube videos are set to private. I won't call them podcasts. I have variously referred to them as: stealthcasts, not-podcasts, tea things, narrowcasts, and narrowcasts for tea-sipping pod people.

The icing on the irony cake? The second of these husband and wife discussions was about TEAL's insistence that their private life be open to the public.

These tea things have provided great fodder for discussion in the comment thread for this blog post. The conversations evolved into a regular feature I call the noncasts. These write-ups mirror the subject matter in that they report on discussions of the tea things I've had with my husband. The official title of this series is "How to Drive Your Double PhD Husband Crazy by Making Him Watch TEAL Videos."

As with the tea things, these are not indexed, freestanding posts. If you're interested, you'll have to dig for them. They can only be found in the comment thread for this post. Page searches for the words noncast or tea should get you there.

* Addendum to the Addendum: With the end of teal's marriage to Sarbdeep, comes the definitive end to "Tea Time with Teal," and, therefore, to the noncasts. I will conclude this exercise by adding to this already absurdly long post a complete list of the noncasts. I will include a link to the initial comment of each noncast, for those whose browsers can interpret that, and the page link for the relevant comments.

In those teacasts, we all got to know a third member of teal's menagerie: the frog. He emerged as a star in his own right. Calm and stoical as only a butler of such impeccable credentials can be, he kept his head when all about him were losing theirs. The frog recently launched a video channel and has begun producing videos in the odd hours, as his schedule permits. The first includes his thoughts as interpreted by his growing legion of fans. So, teal, Sarbdeep, and frog, thanks for the memories.

Further Update: Regarding Jason Freedman, et al.

This post raises a question about the odd correlation between Blake Dyer's and Jason Freedman's likeness and phone number. It took an incident in the Teal Tribe Facebook group to get Blake to address this question, but he has. It would have been nice if he'd done so directly with me, but I'll take what I can get.

What I could get was some screenshots given to me by Teal Tribe members of Blake's attempts to explain this odd coincidence, and another oddity involving a claimed psychiatrist, William Macey PHD [sic], who also bear's Blake's likeness. I have discussed this matter in the comments, but it occurs to me that it, in fairness to the reader and to Blake Dyer, it should also be placed in the body of this post.

The following screenshots are not in any particular order and vary in format, as they came from various sources in various forms. I don't actually know how the dialog unfolded. I only know that these questions were raised in the Teal Tribe group and Blake attempted to answer at least some of them.

Blake denied both knowing Jason Freedman and knowing how it is that he came to have the same phone number. He did so more than once as follows:

Blake acknowledged that the photos used by both Jason Freedman and William Macey were of him, but denied knowing how they came to be associated with either:

So, my question to Blake, which I posed down in the comments as well, is simply this. How is it that he does not know Jason Freedman? Freedman apparently did a face to face interview with TEAL. Couldn't he just ask her? And if he is in the dark about this interview with the mysterious Mr. Freedman, how is it that he promoted said article on Facebook?

Yet Another Update: Kicking "Tealers" Down the Memory Hole

It brings me no joy that I must, once again, update this excruciatingly long post. But it's recently come to my attention that teal is trying to rewrite history. Above I quoted a passage from her Korean spa post about the world-changing potential of the "Tealers." At some point between the original publication of that post and its move to her new website, the passage I quoted above was changed and the word "Tealers" removed. But the original text is still visible on the cached version in the internet archive, or wayback machine.

Here is what that passage looked like when it was originally published in 2014.

Her clean-up was incomplete, however. The word "Tealers" appears further down in the post.

  1. LV : "Batshit craziness from the LA workshop: teal is Lucifer which means she's just like Jesus, Hitler did more for peace than anyone in history because no one was thinking about world peace before that, all kindsa fun. I can't help thinking that if she just drove past a library it would increase her knowledge at least several fold.

wow Teal messing with the minds :D
And she is enjoying it so much.
This is a very successful techique to shut down doubts in the minds of the test people. "Let's pretend....overdoing the story... then a joke...test person starts to laugh .... end of doubts....". Ah Teal. Somebody must have taught her all that.

Btw: I had a lovely dream with Sarbdeep tonight. I don't know why but we were dancing. It was so real. What a great dance and feeling. I was asking myself if i have a crush on Sarbdeep but I can't find it in my heart or mind. All I like, is his presence and gentle male energy. A great man. I hope Teal doesn't reduce him to a girl. But again - non of my business.

And it is also not my business to decide what other people see in things and creatures as Teal. It is such an intimate interpretation mode in human beings, .... according to their state of minds and hearts at this very moment. .. It's like saying to sb. that he is wrong when he is stating that he feels cold. :D

You know - the whole Teal thing... is empty. How on earth can you "help" or "inspire" the teal fanatics to see different stuff in her. It is inpossible. They see what they want to see. End of story. LV-Harbour will always be in the net to catch people who changed their minds about Teal Angel to Teal "Lucifer". Btw: She used the description I was giving her...in regards to "screwing people to that they wake up and follow their own choices and thoughts". I believe she called it "waking up to their own free will or so".

Anyway. Tealers are very happy people with constant Endorphins showers every sunday :D

I believe I was writing about this a couple of months ago on this very blog.......... another one bites the dust (me) on lending ideas to the "all-knowing" Arcturian Eucharist.

  3. I think teal is playing a pretty dark role. Not that I expect she will be dying anytime soon since it is only after they act the role that this event is supposed to occur, and she doesn't appear to be ending off on her act anytime too soon, not only that but she is definitely not in the category of 'best actors'. I don't rate her acting as bad as, like, in 'Samuri Cop', hahahahahahaha (you have to have seen the movie to know what all my laughing is about), and maybe a hair above the acting in 'The Room' (another bunch of laughing that you won't get if you haven't seen the movie, hehe), but I'd definitely give it a 'B' movie rating. The acting is just terrible!

  7. - she invents letters: she merges the T with the S in a new way, only she understands that design. If you would give it to a stranger they would read Tea Twan :D So it needs her explanation to get it.

    - she is FILLING THE SPACE :D
talking about a big ego, doesn't like to be overlooked. So she makes sure to use all space available and to fill it out

-inconsistent writing directions - she is a bit all over the place with all the chaotic "creative, conceptual" lines and the bending of each letter. So she is changing her mind pretty often, has mood swings, follows her momentum of emotions

    - she is also self destructive as her "creative conceptual lines" of the hardly recognizable "S" and the bow above the name is crossing through the name "Tea Twan".

    - beyond self centered - as she is kind of "circling" her name from above and below.

    - did I already said self centered? I correct - extremely self centered. First Teal and then there is nothing for a long time. Her capital Letters for both names are very large compared to the rest. All her creativity goes into highlighting these 2 letters, which represent the desire to be perceived in an important way. The other letters e, a, w a are pretty normal, common. So behind all the trumdumdum is a very common person who tries to impress. The space between all letters is very large…again, Where Teal appears, only Teal counts and wants to be seen, heard and not overlooked. It also includes a form of generosity with space. everything is big, needs to be big….small things will not matter to her much.

the whole writing looks disconnected to each other, overdone, loud, enharmonic….

I would love to see her text handwriting. I have a feeling that she has different styles of handwriting, according to her mood. You will probably find the overly designed handwriting….to look fancy, artistic, old style and planed. And then you will have a very messy handwriting, letters bending in all kind of directions, sometimes loose touch to each other….surely she has a good looking handwriting as well….she can be on her best behavior in real life as well. However, I bet that all her 100 writing styles have 2 things in common…..large capital letters, takes a lot of space on the paper, and either overly beautiful or a total mess.

that would be my impression from this little piece of lines.

  9. So, have we seen the Pacific Coast blog, in which teal explains that she's given up the search for a place to live in Santa Barbara after seeing the ocean?

"In truth, the ocean stretches out to the horizon..."

Nooooo! Really? Well, while we're getting honest, I don't think that's news.

"Like another world, as enticing yet forbidden as deep space, the ocean is unfathomable."

I think she's using the word unfathomable figuratively, as in unimaginable, but what's funny is that the word fathom is a unit of measure for depth of water. The ocean is at least theoretically fathomable. More than deep space, anyway, which isn't measured in fathoms. And I don't think either are forbidden, just hard to get to.

"Despite how small our planet really is the ocean seems to go on forever."

Perhaps that has something to do with Earth's surface being nearly three quarters ocean.

So, long story short, radiation. She didn't see any last time she was there, but now, whammo. It's so cute the way she psychically divines things that have been all over the news.

  11. Is Teal Swan really a Drow Elf High Priestess of Lolth?

    http://whoisteal.blogspot.com/2014/10/is-teal-swan-really-drow-elf-high.html

From Teal's own words describing her out of body experience being a black widow spider cannabiling her mate after sex:

    http://blog.thespiritualcatalyst.com/spider-sex/

    September 23, 2014

" Having been at dinner last night when someone made reference to a woman they knew as a “black widow spider” (because of her tendency to ruin the lives of men she became involved with), I had become curious about spiders in general and about the experience of mating as a spider. So I asked in out of body meditation this morning to experience spider sex."

I remained still, as if sedated by his “sounds”. I felt him attach weak fibers to my back legs, climb onto me and spool a collection of his life force energy into me. At that very minute, like an internal chain reaction, I felt my body begin to swell and a craving engulfed me. It felt as if an internal black hole began to suck his vital force in. I felt as if it would suck my entire reality as well as myself into itself, an instantaneous implosion.

her strange spider blog was simply refering to an image collection Jessica Schab had uploaded on her facebook profile... as I assume that JS made it onto Teal's conciousness map by now.

I wouldn't interpretate to much into it other then delivering more men some sexual phantasies...as we all know ... she spends a lot of time and intelligence to come up with stuff like this. This time it was the dominatrix for the wilder men out there...can't be wrong.

I listened to her online meditation. The voice coach definatly helped to chill out her frozen, sometimes robotic voice... I can't say more than this meditation "script" is a common one, out there a lot....

I am actually convinced by now that Teal would even make a show out of herself forting special air - channeled from the Arcturians planet - into little bottles. And Tealers would buy the bottle :D and sniff it every sunday when watching the ask Teal video..

  17. The Eternal New Age BullShit of Teal:

One of the endless dogmas of Teal is "we create are own reality" going so far to suggest "we chose to be born into this world", "we chose are shortcomings and are crippling limitations" or we chose are own parents. Teal claims to have singlehandedly escaped from ritual sexual torture abuse because she chose to leave and she created her own reality. She holds the light because she was personally responsible for escaping. "Look at me at the name I've made for myself" "I crawled out of the worst of the worst". Look at me and my lilly pale skinned privilages born with a tits and ass to manifest easy sugar daddy cock!

So she keeps beating the same drum with the same doublespeak and backhanded insults and compliments for her following of desperate idiots looking for a cult leader savior. Her whole dogma goes something like this: Abused children created their own suffering, I was an abused child too so I should know. At what point can this be extrapolated down this slippery slope of saying this until one comes right out of no where and blames innocent rape victims for them being rape?

Filthy rich people both from Hindu India and a lot so called "new age" "y.u.p."ies" with a better acronym: ("youth undermined & urbanized into parasites") instead of ("young urban professionals") in Western Society in North Americans seem to me to lean toward "Krisna consciousness" which subtly really is more Hindu caste system bull shit in many respects because they can always assume that the suffering poor or crippled deserved their suffering from past life sins or choosing to come to this world and choosing their own parents. It's easy to push this victim blaming when you are speaking from a pedastal of wealth disparity and privilages.

That is a very cruel attitude that is completely insane and full of complete utter bullshit. It's better to hold to the reality that re-incarnation back to being confined to this 3 dimensional world is a false reality, no matter how bad one's past life was. I believe we evolve to a higher dimensional perception after we are dead here in this 3-D world and the consequences of decisions here affect decisions in the afterlife of expanded extra perceptional dimensions where the filthy rich can never again oppress the suffering innocent poor victims. No one chooses to be born into this world. No one chooses their parents, contrary to what Teal Scott/Swan/Bosworth would say.

None of the other popular stories of survivors from child ritual sexual torture such as Cathy O'brien, Jay Parker, and several other's who were mind controlled push that same victim claiming bullshit as Teal. None. Where is Teal's open solidarity with any of these survivors and those who advocate for those survivors at such places as the "Free your mind conferences" http://freeyourmindconference.com/

Our only past life karma is the DNA memories and consequences from our parents, grandparents and ancestors that are the cards we've been dealt from an indifferent cosmic Dealer who throws out a cosmic chaotic random arbitrary completely and thoroughly suffled infinitely diverse but completely fair divine deck of cards. Some are dealt a shitty hand and some are not through no fault of their own. We live with the cards we are dealt the best we can. We are responsible for living with the cards we are deal the best we can. We have no more choice over whether or not we have a good childhood than a seed falling from a tree has a choice to land on fertile soil

  18. For those into Ad Hominem character assassination with the truth: she's overdue for a parody video. I never thought I would be saying this, but if I knew how and could afford the makeup designer, and had the time, I would be willing to do a drag queen makeover for Halloween and act out a real good parody script of Teal and post the video. That annoying chirping tone in her voice as though she is talking with her tongue in the back of her mouth needs to be made fun of. It's so creepy and disingenuous and I can't think of anything more disgusting to think she really is a psyop gone haywire to fuck with the heads of victims of child abuse, pushing that victim blaming bullshit more and more, and even more than they already are fucked in the heads, rather than annihilate the criminal pedophile pedocidal filthy rich elitists parasites off the fucking face of the earth Teal sure seems to do a fine job at acting like one.

  19. Well.... 5 part interview with Cameron and Jessica

P.1/5 Why Teal Scott/Swan and the Whole Spiritual Movement is Dangerous!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4-7ZSfdVUQ

"For the full detailed story on Cameron's experience with Teal and how this interview came about please see our explosive and whistle blowing typed chat click on the PDF link on this page
    http://www.jessicamystic.com/exposing...
-This video is not an intended attack on Teal, it's to provoke and stimulate people to think and to encourage them to find out for themselves and to see first hand how teal her followers and the whole spiritual movement is dangerous.

Teal claims to suffer from Borderline Personality Disorder, and she also clearly demonstrates the common co-occurrence of Narcissistic Personality Disorder. It is important to note that while these conditions are unfortunate, they don't necessitate trauma to develop them. There is currently no known cure for these personality disorders. BPD/NPD can be managed with proper and consistent long term therapy. In Teal's case, her conditions are only being exacerbated by her position as a "Spiritual Leader." Teal's followers, including the people who live with Teal, are basically enabling her disease and delusions to progress in a toxic and psychologically damaging feedback loop. There are too many people who only see what they want to see and are refusing to face the reality of what actually is. This is why we are doing what we're doing. It's not about hating, but raising awareness and damage prevention. Unfortunately, being kind to a narcissist like Teal in the face is some really nasty stuff only increases their sense of entitlement, progresses their disease, and increases their potential to harm others.

the ink didn't even dry by now and we already have a fancy request for some money from Teal. Teal why don't you pay her youself...considering that your income is stabile now and great.

A year ago, I was contacted by a documentary filmmaker named Paola. I agreed to her proposal, which was to follow me for over a year. A “behind the scenes look” at my life. Since Paola embarked on her project, I have grown very fond of her. I have actually enjoyed the filming process and it is turning into a beautiful and inspirational film. Paola has been approached by multiple production companies that want to fund the film, but who want to take the film in a different direction that she does. Because of her dedication to her original vision, Paola decided to start a crowd funding campaign to see the project through to completion so she can maintain the integrity of the film. Seeing as how I am the subject of the film, I cannot contribute financially to the project. This would be a conflict of interest. But obviously a documentary does lend publicity to my career and my mission, which is facilitated by my career. For this very reason, I thought to myself “Who better to fund the film than people who are dedicated to seeing the messages inherent in my life and my work spread?” Which is why I have decided to help Paola by putting her crowd funding campaign offer to you. Have a look at the trailer for the film. Even though this film is not a project of my own, it would be a great joy for me to see it come to fruition and to see it give people hope around the world.
    With love always,

  29. independent of the glorifying direction of this movie and the redicolousness of her words "Who better to fund the film than people who are dedicated to seeing the messages inherent in my life and my work spread?”, - the trailer is really well done! Very sad that it will only cover 10 % of the whole picture and will mostly support the Tealer's perspective. Also a very loving view towards Teal - the business and Teal - the damaged person.

Oh god. we arrived at stage 7 of the business plan. Conquer TV with a low budget but high quality documentary - Best to be put out on the day somebody publishes a rasor sharp interview with Cameron.

  30. Though the highlight is on Teal, the low down is on how people can get entrapped in the total horror of a Narcissist.

This however in no way dissuades me from the sense that we can discoonect from belief systems and experience a new mind and therefore have expanded reality. In fact, the whole Teal extravaganza and what Jessica Mystic addresses is IMO the superficial use of real concepts and IF they are misused, That does not show me the ideas themselves are wrong.

If the knowing that belief does shape experience, I see in this the manipulation of people's belief. The very drastic difference is Teal MUST have other's energy and people (because of vulnerability at the time or by being intuitively aware of a grain of truth in a stew of nonsense) are not standing in a sovereign state so get sucked in. That could be as simple as an extraordinary person who feels isolated and without comfort in a dark night.

This is an amazing expose and very useful video of the Teal condition. Cameron is helpful to outing the yuck. Jessica and LV do the world a service.

---- I just made it to part 3 and my brain is exploding soon as I always had a very soft version of true Teal in my mind. Didn't see this reality check coming.

Cameron, if you read this here: I admire that you found the fine line between gossiping/judging and sharing your own experience and concerns. This was very important. ALthough rehab lies already behind you, remember that behind every hateful comment of the Teal clan is the deep desire for the drug which Teal is conciously supplying and which you were hooked on too. That will help to survive the wave of attack which is coming soon.

All the best ( : and well done Jessica for the guidance through the interview. ALthough I have great difficulty to follow your material and concept for the EOF building...which just appears like another suggestion to perceive and think about thinking and life...I do admire that you made this step to show the hidden Teal through cameron's individual perspective.

    Cheers for that

It is highly upsetting how much of a fake Teal is and it is also very HEALING to me how much insight I actually was given by my intuition. I believe Cameron. There is something about the way how Cameron describes her experience and Teal and her aftermath knowledge. I find it fantastic that Jess did this interview as it helps me to understand why I felt so attracked to Teal and her message. Cameron puts 1mio puzzle pieces together for me.

How deep is the hole? Oh man, and now we have the propaganda film coming soon after they collected 90.000 dollars from the tealish drug addicts (I am ex druggie).... to pull even more people into this game.

I do understand why Fallon wants to find a cure for Teal as he already has realized how deep her mental issues are.

I have listened to Teal, scientists, demonic black magickians (yeah it's spell with a K), seen Egyptian writings, read quite a bit on the subject and you know what they all have in common. They all say what each other is saying about source energy, vibrations, astral planes and mankind purpose on this planet, which is to eventually be reunited in one consciousness. So how come some many different people from such a diverse background is coming to the same understanding.

I know you and I guess this blogger and others hate Teal for whatever reason but if I tell you your sh#t and mine stink when we use the john. Am I lying or you just don't care for what I have to say?
Here is a a little demonstration to show you there is value in what Teal and others like her is saying. I came up with this experiment below I want you to try....
Take a watch or a clock. Hold it up in front of you with the face facing you. Tell you friend to stand behind the watch or clock with the back facing them. Take your index finger or any finger and go around the face of the timepiece in a CLOCKWISE circle where your friend who is looking at the back of the timepiece can see your finger going round and round. Now ask your friend what direction is your finger going. When you understand that, you will understand and you will be ready to know what we know.

  40. Noncast: TEAL Works Blue pt. 1

Why is everything blue? This is my question to my husband as we fumble with the color settings. No, it's definitely blue.  This teacast has been shot with a blue gel or something. Everything has this unnatural blue cast, including the frog. It's disturbing. Her BATGAP interview has her against an ocean mural, which is a little weird because I'm pretty sure that's her bathroom. Bathrooms are generally where people put their seascapes. All that's missing is the clear vinyl shower curtain from Bed Bath and Beyond with cheerful, playing dolphins. Optics, people. Seriously? Bathrooms and blue lighting from a "leader of the New Age" who works bluer than Red Foxx?

Other than being eerily blue, this is a fairly dull teacast. It starts with an insanely convoluted explanation of being "out of body" as opposed to "in-bodied" (???) or what most of us would simply call "grounded." It's a very polarized, Cartesian split the way she's presenting it here. And we don't understand how she comes to some of these constructions. It takes 15 minutes to get back into the body from being out of body? Says who? She really likes to invent numbers and statistics.

I'll keep it simple and quote my teacher, Cherokee Mystic Virginia Sandlin:

"You can never really be out of body because your body is the entire universe."

What we do is shift our perspective around and there really is no sharp separation from the physical until we're dead. It's all a matter of degrees as to  how expanded beyond the body awareness we are and how dissociated that may make us from the physical body.

So, as ever, my major issue with teal is that she states things in absolute terms that simply aren't absolute, but are, instead, highly individualized. She just doesn't do nuance -- convoluted, yes; nuanced, no.

Case in point, she uses the example of a client who was on the horns of a dilemma regarding whether or not to have children. That our minds and bodies get into disagreements, I agree with, and I know I generally trust my gut. But she also suggests that the body and the spirit can disagree. What? We shouldn't listen to our higher selves? Our spiritual guidance? This makes no sense to us.

This client, according to teal, had a negative, kinesthetic reaction to the idea of childbearing. Okay. That may well mean that it's not the right choice for her. But it could also mean that she has trauma that is being held at the cellular level. Maybe she's a rape survivor. Maybe there's an ancestral issue. Maybe she has past-life trauma associated with pregnancy and childbirth. (Yes, I believe our past lives affect our current ones -- just another thing I disagree with teal on.) Listening to the body and hearing what it has to say in the present moment is the beginning of a conversation, not grounds for a summary judgment. Clearing that kind of cellular memory of trauma is kind of the raison d'etre of energy healing.

We agree with teal that we need to listen to the body's wisdom. Certainly, if we feel threatened and the hairs on the backs our necks are standing up, we should run. My husband and I are both advocates of Gavin de Becker's work on that gift known as fear. It can save your life. But to make major life choices on the basis of kinesthetic reactions that could be telling us far more about our past than our future, we believe, is in error.

  41. Noncast: TEAL Works Blue pt. 2

It's all rendered more disturbing because we know all too well, at this point, how teal dispenses advice and it ain't just food for thought. It's "source perspective," "universal perspective," and too many people seem to hear it as gospel. Again, this is a practitioner who pronounced that a client needed to decide between life and death on the basis that she wasn't doing the exercises teal wanted her to do.

She's dialed it way back, but there are still all kinds of little tells.

    At one point she says:

"I don't want people to pick a lifestyle. I want them to tune into their emotional and feeling body..."

Cognitive whiplash! Your free will, process of personal discovery is all about what teal wants or doesn't want. She can't not give herself away.

Worse still is where she explains the body's awareness and how we react to being touched and having our boundaries violated. Says teal:

"It's fun to do experiments, when it comes to the feeling body, too, with other people..."

There are very specific rules relating to experimenting on people and playing with their psychology. It involves express permission and their full knowledge that they're taking part in an experiment. All else is an ethics violation.

"That's the kind of thing that would negate all my doctoral research and for good reason." ~ J

But, again, this is a woman who thinks "playing chess" with people's minds and being "manipulative" are good things.

Frankly, we have concerns about what she was doing with Sarbdeep in this segment. She could be anchoring certain kinds of touch to the emotions she wants to elicit in him, for instance. She also seemed to be probing, trying to figure out his feelings towards her. It's a little dicey when your husband is your client, your follower, and the subject of your "experiment."

The dynamics between them are always fascinating and much care has clearly been taken to make them look more like a couple. She's turned in to face him. She's letting him speak... a lot. He got out entire paragraphs without her interrupting which makes for a nice change. Of course, whenever she gets the talking stick, she does that auctioneer, speed-talking thing, just as she does when they have guests.

It also got really weird toward the end. This, again, goes to my husband's theory of "teal's inversion." The less time she has to talk batshit craziness, the more batshit craziness will spill out of her giant, gaping maw. The only time we don't see this happen is, in some cases, when they have guests.

This time the strangeness starts early, a little before the 20:00 minute mark. Sarbdeep asks her a question, but then cuts her off and answers it himself. At first she just looks sort of stunned. Then her breathing speeds up and she exhibits some weird facial expressions, working lips around as if she can't believe words aren't coming out of them. Then she turns and stares straight into the camera for a moment before she does an exaggerated shoulder shimmy and puffs out her chest. To her credit, she didn't do the full Sharon Stone... this time.

"Next week he'll be locked in a trunk with a ball gag in his mouth. Gimp's sleepin.'" ~ J

When she does get to talk again, her anger is evident. It's all veiled threats and code-talking about how she expects to be treated.

People who don't honor your feelings, even family members, have to go. Replace them.

Sarbdeep thinks that might be a little drastic. "No, it's not drastic," snaps teal.

So here's the thing. I'm all for cutting people off, even family members, if they're verbally abusive and invalidating. I've done it. But there's another side to this. What if what a person wants to have respected and validated is their ability to hold their family and friends hostage to their extreme mood swings and fits of temper. What if those are the feelings and sensitivities we're talking about?

Sarbdeep just looks very uncomfortable. He fidgets. His calming mudra becomes pinched and clenched. His legs even bounce up and down like he's walking or bicycling away. He thinks there might be a way to work with loved ones and transition relationships. But teal seems awfully ready to throw people away.

She concludes with an explanation of how to enroll other people in monitoring, let's say, for example, her kinesthetic awareness. It sounds an awful lot like, you're responsible for you and you're responsible for me, especially because she uses phrases like we can "take advantage" of that.

We thought Sarbdeep looked uncomfortable, even sad, as she regaled him with her criteria for the kind of relationship that doesn't get thrown out with the trash. My husband suspects it's the following, but it's pure conjecture, on his part.

"He's so disturbed because on the one hand she's telling him, you need to listen to your gut and remove people who don't respect you. She's telling him how she wants to be treated. But that would also mean that he'd have to listen to his own gut which is telling him to get the fuck out because she doesn't respect him." ~ J

Anyway, Sarbdeep's suggestions about breath work and toning à la Stewart Pearce were good.

I didn't drag my husband into the ocean depths to listen to teal's interview with Rick Archer of Buddha at the Gas Pump. I initially became aware of this because of traffic coming from a discussion thread about it. It includes some entertaining discussion about teal and about the interview.

"The interview is a spaghetti mess. She is zooming between the relative and the absolute like a carnival ride. I'm dizzy." ~ Anonymous

Yeah. She does that. But it's an interesting interview in a lot of ways, because she goes into depth on some things more than I've heard previously. Granted, I don't have enough hours in the day to take in her entire body of work. And her voice is like nails a chalkboard for me, so I'm sure I've missed some things.

Minutes in, I was brought up short by hearing her detailed explanation of why she was dragged into that nasty Mormon Satanist ring and how it owed to her "extrasensory" abilities. I've heard this before, but it just really hit me this time that she was saying that the Mormon Church is stuck in the 1800s and women can't have the same spiritual gifts that men can -- things like prophecy and laying on of hands to heal. When men do it, they're priests, but when women do it, it's of the devil. That is her claim.

I've known some Mormons through the years and this just doesn't ring true to me. Yes, priesthood roles are reserved for men, but the idea of women as not being able to have spiritual gifts or to heal, huh uh. So I did a little googling.

There's this which describes some of the history. It's particularly interesting because teal makes the comment that Utah needs to come out of the 1800s. This is the role of Mormon women from 1830-1847:

"Although the authority to administer most ordinances and preside over most gatherings was restricted to a male priesthood, the gifts of the Spirit were not considered to belong to men alone. Women received personal revelation, healed the sick, prophesied future events, and performed various other actions that required spiritual gifts. The faith of these women and their ability to develop spiritual qualities were essential for keeping the Church alive during its difficult first years."

Nothing at all about women with spiritual gifts being of the devil, nothing at all. On the contrary.

Even on the ex-Mormon site, I found this:

"Women are, of course, excluded from the priesthood. This practice in effect says that a woman's prepubescent son is more qualified to advise her than she is to advise him. The official explanation is that women are kept from having the priesthood because women are more spiritual than men, therefore, men need to have the priesthood to teach them how to be better people (Johnson 86). Women are also told that, because they have the all- important ability to bear children, men need the power of the priesthood merely to remain equal with them." [emphasis mine]

So, once again, one of teal's claims doesn't hold up to scintilla of scrutiny. Women with spiritual gifts aren't considered Satanic. Those gifts are considered an expression of their saintliness and spiritual superiority which men need to train and study to measure up to.

According to teal, she was "worshipped" for these Mormon-forbidden abilities by the Satanists. Does her ego ever take a day off?

It was her exceptional intelligence that made her a prime candidate for brainwashing because you can compartmentalize a smart person's brain or something. (???) But now, of course, she's got the DID (aka, multiple personalities) as a result. In a way it works out, though, because apparently she's DID for a living. Yes, in case you didn't know it, that "high vibrational" personality you see on stage when she's doing those workshops is really one of many alters. Her therapist has some concerns... as naturally one might.

About a quarter of the way through this thing, Archer asks her if she has any safeguards in place to keep her in check. Power corrupts, he reminds her, quoting Lord Acton.

Well, so far so good, teal informs him. In her little community in Utah, she's surrounded by people who call her on her shit, because they are as "dedicated" as she.

Archer: That's really good, 'cause again I've seen well-known spiritual teachers who isolated themselves and kind of shut out any kind of feedback loop, you know? And, uh, they've got -- It's amazing how far one can spin out into strangeness if you don't have people callin' you on your stuff.
teal: [giggles] Yeah. It's not fun, though. It's [inaudible] tempting.
Archer: And because a lot of people want to hitch their wagon to a star, a lot of people want to follow you into that strangeness.
teal: Yeah, which is exactly why I make sure to pick people who can stand on their own two feet. I'm very careful about who I surround myself with in my closest, inner circle. I select only from people who are actually capable, if I spin off, of holding their own space.

One of those dedicated people was Cameron Clark. A funny thing happened when she pushed back ever so gently against teal's "spinning off," though. It didn't go well. Cameron was manipulated into a Shadow House episode in which teal attacked and humiliated her live on camera and pressured the rest of her "intentional family" to do likewise. Then, of course, she opened this group shaming exercise to her greater web community. So that was bad. Worse, at one point, teal suggested, in not terribly veiled terms, that Cameron should kill herself.

I bet if you asked Cameron, she wouldn't be too impressed with the safeguards against abuse of power that are in place in teal's inner circle.

Of course, we could also look at the community that teal has created on Facebook, called Teal Tribe. There certainly is some enforcement of group norms and codes of conduct, but they apply to members, not so much to teal. As I noted in the comments here, there was something of a melee when someone made the mistake of posting some of my material. Recently, when Cameron Clark's interview was similarly posted in Teal Tribe, there were more bannings and outrage. Most concerning, Sarbdeep seems to be playing the role, not teal keeper-in-check, but of Teal Tribe tyrant. His favorite new phrase is "Delete + Ban = Problem solved."

It puts me in mind of nothing so much as that famous Joseph Stalin saying, "Death solves all problems. No man, no problem."

  45. Noncast: TEAL Works Blue pt. 6

Another triber was uncomfortable with this phrase, and also with his characterization of people as "trolls, losers and arseholes."

I found it kind of funny that Sarbdeep's response to this person was to inform them that he simply would not tolerate people of "purely malevolent intentions."

What's funny about that is that teal has made quite a point of insisting that there's no such thing as a "malevolent intention." So let's be clear. Hitler, Jim Jones,  and  Elliot "the virgin killer" Rodger, for instance, are not malevolent and are merely pursuing there misguided but "positive" aims because they're only trying to "feel good." But people who raise questions about teal and want to discuss, for instance, some of the very concerning material in Cameron's interview are "trolls, losers, and arseholes," with "purely malevolent intentions."

Got it? Hitler: good -- Questioning teal: bad.

Another tribe member recently asked, in light of all these bannings, what a country owned by teal would look like? Because, you know, she wants to buy countries. The only answer this tribe member received was banishment to cyberia.

So, I don't know how well this whole inner circle keeping teal in check thing is working out.

A little less than half way through this interview, teal admits that she's wrestling with how much she might be playing God, when it comes to her clients, mainly because she's taking it on herself to determine whether or not these people are ready for the all important 2.0, aka., the shadow work.

Archer makes the point that some of this shadow work stuff might just be a way for a spiritual teacher to justify their own bad behavior. This was one of those moments when I thought Archer might be poking at teal just a little.

Another moment when I thought he might be needling her, comes around three quarters of the way through. He suggests that she might be a little caught up in her appearance and all those modeling photos might be conveying a superficiality that detracts from her message. She's not going to be so young and beautiful forever, he points out. She assures him that she'll be teaching many new things by then, but politely takes his suggestion on board.

Then she begins to noticeably fume. Her face takes on a hardened intensity. "Do you wanna know something?" she says.

And we're off. She's beautiful by design, she says, alluding to her Arcturian planning committee as discussed here. Because if she's going to hit the mainstream, "sex sells."

The mainstream, teal informs a man who announced at the beginning of this show that he had just turned 65, does not want to listen to someone who is "wrinkly and gray."

    Touché!

Well, Archer takes it all with great aplomb. Good for him.

Archer also pushes back ever so gently when she suggests that the Atom Bomb was "created for good." The A-bomb, teal explains, was really created as a "leveler of playing fields." She had to go "back in time" to learn this. I might have recommended a history book, over time travel, because that's a nonsensical answer. Or, I would say at least, if it was intended on some higher plain of awareness to balance things out: mission fail.

The A-bomb didn't level anything. It tipped the balance of power dramatically towards the allied forces. The only things leveled were Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

I suspect she's referring, though, to the Cold War, but that came much later, and it didn't level anything, either. It created a stalemate between two emerging super-powers, but the result was anything but balanced. The rest of the world was held hostage by a battle between Titans that threatened to wipe out the planet at any moment. There is nothing level or balanced about weapons of mass destruction that puts that much power in anyone's hands, and can destroy most, if not all, of life on Earth.

But I guess this is more of her no one is malevolent but people who question teal meme.

There's an awful lot of talk about about that well-intended Hitler in this interview, too. He seems to be emerging as one of her favorite topics. One might say she's doubling down on her defense of Hitler, having taken some criticism for doing so. I don't disagree that Hitler was an expression of the collective shadow. I do disagree that this was simply about what the Jews law-of-attracted for themselves. We can't, on the one hand, take responsibility for our piece of the collective shadow and, on the other, resort to victim-blame, but this is precisely what she does in this interview.

The full crazy of teal's Hitler defense comes near the very end of this two-hour torture test. when she gets "very aggressive" about how we don't really know what it's like to walk in another man's shoes. It's an odd choice of words -- let's get "aggressive" about compassion -- but there you have it.

"If you understand Hitler's past. See now it's easy to make and enemy of Hitler but many of us feel guilty in our own lives. So you ready to understand the way the universe sees you? [emphasis mine -- teal's gonna lay the the universal on you, brother] The universe can comprehend of the fact that Hitler was born into an incredibly emotionally absent family. I mean there was, you wanna talk about emotional abuse, that was the reality of his life. Then he goes to war. Not only does he go to war, he gets injured in war to the point where he's in a psychiatric ward thinking he's blind for a long period of time. And he looks out at the world and he's super angry. Why? Because he feels alone again. He feels betrayed because he thinks that the Jews are not fighting in the war like they should. So he develops, it's a projection of his relationship with his parents but that ultimate amount of pain of being betrayed gets projected onto the Jewish culture and that is why he did what he did. Those childhood feelings of betrayal. Would we then take this man to another alternative reality called hell and punish him for the very same emotional state which he was put in which was painful in his childhood? Hell no, because we can comprehend how he got to that position. So there was more compassion shown for him than there was punishment for him."

I've done a good bit of reading on the Third Reich and teal's accounting of Hitler's childhood did not comport with my memory. In sum, Hitler's father was indeed emotionally and physically abusive, but Hitler's mother was indulgent, nurturing, and protective of her children. Hitler and his mother were emotionally very close.

I did a little googling to refresh my memory and it appears to be as I thought. He lost both parents early on. His father died when he was 14 and his mother when he was 18. He was devastated -- according to one source, "prostrate with grief" -- at the loss of his mother. He wrote in Mein Kampf, that he'd "honored my father, but loved my mother."

The issue of Hitler's blindness is a matter of dispute. He claimed in Mein Kampf that he was blinded by British mustard gas. There is increasing evidence that it may have been hysterical blindness. Also questioned, though, is that it was the war which radicalized his anti-Semitism.

While googling some of this up, I stumbled on some Hitler apologia that is striking similar to teal's. And it's not just the Hitler thing or the fact this woman is similarly apologetic for other tyrants, but that she has made something of a career out of blaming parents for everything. She's written many books and, more to the point, her text can be found all over the web. If teal is not deriving much of her content from Alice Miller, she is certainly the heir apparent.

"More disturbing than Miller's lack of historical context, however, was an ever more discernible grandiosity of both tone and purpose. She wrote as if no one had come before her -- no one, that is, with sufficient temerity to expose the evil perpetrated in the name of parenthood -- and peppered her books with fulsome letters paying her homage. Her convictions began to sound more and more like obiter dicta, and her attitude was as intemperate as her logic was invincible: either you were with her or you weren't, and if you weren't -- if you hadn't given up your illusion of having had a happy childhood -- it could only mean that you were in denial."

Considering that the NY Times book review I find that text in was for a book called The Truth Will Set You Free: Overcoming Emotional Blindness and Finding Your True Adult Self, if she's not one of teal's main sources, the whole thing is just uncanny. From the same review:

"There is precious little resilience in the world according to Miller -- next to no possibility of rising heroically above desolate circumstances."

  48. Noncast: TEAL Works Blue pt. 9

This is one my biggest problems with teal's justifications for depravity -- the assumption that no one could possibly rise above difficult circumstances. Many people were abused by their fathers and doted on by their mothers -- particularly at that time in history. Many people fought in wars and had a range of psychological problems as a result. There's a reason they erroneously called WWI "the war to end all wars." It was devastating. The men who survived combat left their innocense and, in many cases their limbs, on the battlefield. What we now call PTS was epidemic. But, and here is the key point, they did not all become despots. And the same can be said of many, many people who've lived through worse than Hitler. Difficult circumstances don't turn the vast majority of human beings into monsters and there are many people who've lived lives far more difficult than Hitler's, who did not become genocidal megalomaniacs.

And so ends another chapter in the ahistorical apologia for evil as perpetrated by Mistress Teal.

In closing, I'd like to announce that in light of the horrific revelations in the Cameron Clark interview, my concern for the safety of the frog has reached a new level of urgency. And so, I am announcing the Liberate the Frog campaign. Please join me in this, for now, entirely symbolic effort to free this dear, and ever-stoical, amphibious butler from a very unwholesome environment.

  49. Noncast: TEAL Works Blue - Addendum

I'm in receipt of some Teal Tribe screenshots this morning, thanks to all the kind little birdies. This bit is just stunning. The images, as ever, can be found by following the links to where they're posted in photobucket.

One triber is very upset that BATGAP's Rick Archer challenged teal on her self-exploitation. She's not a "sexual object who needs to be toned down in order to be respected."

It goes on: "He shouldn't make her responsible for people who can't take their attention away from her looks, that's not her problem it's theirs and that goes for every other woman in society, we're not responsible for your actions."

Is it possible to physically injure yourself on your own irony? If so, this poor woman might need medical attention.

According to teal, herself, in that very interview, she was designed specifically as a "sexual object." She was engineered to be hot enough to reach "the mainstream" because, in her own fucking words, "sex sells."

No one is making teal a "sexual object" but teal... Oh, and that panel of Arcturians who specially engineered her to be pretty and white enough to be heard on "every single continent." The weren't messin' around. They didn't, for instance, make her an African woman because some people find them "pretty ugly." Very important to those Arcturians that teal be able to sell that sex.

Poor Rick Archer was only trying to point out that she might want to stop reducing herself to a "sexual object." She didn't like that idea at all. Those Arcturians worked too hard on making her sexy in the first place.

And, of course, teal is very appreciative of this woman's comment, because she was "really affected" by Archer's comments. It's been bothering her "for days."

Why should women have to "tailor" themselves to "the tastes of other people?"

They shouldn't have to tailor themselves?!! She wasn't just tailored, she was genetically engineered by a team of Arcturians to appeal to the "tastes" of people on "every single continent" and break into "the mainstream" by selling sex.

Well, she's not having any of this "toning down" stuff. She intends to "tone it up." Really? Can she possibly work any bluer?!

The punchline is, teal may not know what the word irony means, but she sure knows how to bring it.

  50. too funny LV - I was jumping through the teacast thingy. your non casts are too funny.

Teal has a blue episode…white balance is off. Camera now sees everything through blue glasses. So metaphorical. Even the camera sees Teal in a certain light now. :D

    --------

    http://www.walter-russell.de/en/Radioaktivitaet.php

Teal didn't do a good research on the atom bomb I am afraid.
    ---

Well, let's face it. Teal needs to cover some shit which was made publicly by Cameron

    1. Hitler obsession ….crossed - " .. you are all idiots…look how amazing Hitler was"

    2. being rejective to Cameron … crossed - "… that girl can't stand on her own feed whenever i lose my s£$%^ and attack her"

    -----

in regards to the triber rant "Teal should tone it down" comment of the buddha man"….I have to say that there is still a difference between looking pretty and dressing tastefully and

    1.Limitless teasing
    2. flashing the audience on and offline
    3. playing "i-look-nacked-but-i-am-not-…-you-dirty-mind"-games with the online audience
    4. getting read of bra strings and ending up looking nacked during online interview
    5. doing the sex kitten eye squeezer at beginning of episodes (note: hardly seen anymore)

    ----

LV: "According to teal, herself, in that very interview, she was designed specifically as a "sexual object." "

oh this was an upgrade of her history 2.0..1.0 stated that she was designed to look attractive to the billions of people on this planet. Now sexual object. Ok. Is that the definition of porn? Whenever a female or male is reduced to a sexual object you can call it porn? These Arcturians created consciously a

    spiritual catalytic porn star

    ?

    ReplyDelete
  51. ...so this would cover point 3 which was published by cameron

    3. Sex obsessed ….crossed - " .. I was designed to be a sex object"

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I come to the following conclusion:
    Teal can do no wrong.
Meaning: only the world can do wrong to Teal.
Method: there are no false prophets

Result: chameleon-like play with mind to cover tealish tracks

Cheers Archer! "Archer makes the point that some of this shadow work stuff might just be a way for a spiritual teacher to justify their own bad behavior."

  52. You may be right, GA. This could be the 2.0 version of her Arcturian origin story. Although, if we're following teal's numbering system, the first version would be 101. So 101 is: Arcturian panel made her pretty and white so that enough people would be drawn to "what's attractive" that she can reach people on "every single continent." And 2.0 is: she was designed by ??? to be pretty to reach the less conscious people in mainstream society because, and I quote, "sex sells."

She really gave the game away there. "Sex sells," says the former porn model turned "leader of the New Age."

Mind melting. Speaking of her nearly naked shoulders, did you ever see this video? Cameron mentioned this one because Fallon is in it, and it's still up. The man she now claims is a psycopath is still highlighted in a video as her example of the realized "divine masculine." And he comes across hella better than she does in this. He really has a lovely speaking voice, too. Him I can listen to without cringing.

But that's not my point. What is she wearing? Straight jacket? Bondage gear? What?

  53. I see what you mean about the "priceless' response of the interviewer. I think I understand what's happening there. He knows what the word "ironic" means. Her working with Blake is not even a little ironic. Now if her captor had turned to out be her biggest supporter, that really would be ironic. So, I can totally understand that man's confusion.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Right, but also to even consider this version :D

I come back to the irish story telling skill. One quality of a story teller is the ability to include spontenously a word or concept, given by the audience, into his or her story with light speed as if it was always meant to be part of the story. Teal displays this.

In the same way as you can't say to an irish story teller that he or she is a liar, you can't say it to Teal either.

    Story tellers are always right.
With this realization.... I rest my case.

    ReplyDelete
  55. So, a bit of the blarney you're thinking, GA? I don't know. I think this goes way beyond that. I don't think she's so much a clever story-teller as she is a fabulist.

What she does is more akin to what you see with psychopaths, which is to say, she can contradict herself six ways from Sunday over a period of a few minutes, and all while looking you straight in the eye. What she's actually saying is a disjointed mess, but she delivers it with such confidence that a lot of people don't notice that it doesn't make any sense. This creates cognitive dissonance and actually shuts down the logical processes of the listener, making them increasingly more suggestible as she goes on. It's a recipe for disaster.

There are spinners of yarns and there are pathological liars. I'm more inclined to see her as the latter.

    ReplyDelete
  56. How is it possible? Lack of conscience. People only have tells when they're lying if they have moral qualms about lying. That's why psychopaths, but not only psychopaths, can easily pass lie detector tests.

People who are self-deluded can, too, because they believe what they're saying in that moment. Narcissists who've convinced themselves that they're always right can do that. There are a number of psychological issues that result in a certain ease with lying. Borderlines, btw, are notorious liars.

I remember that statement and I also thought it was risible. It's apples and oranges. And it's also contradicts other things she's said. She claims to be enlightened. But it was what I call her Malkovichian enlightenment, and it really just sounds like a surreal experience of solipsistic fantasy or something. Very strange. Very narcissistic. I wrote it up here in the Messiah Complex noncast.

"Whenever you see someone who openly courts adulation, who tries to build her 'army' of followers you see a red flag."

  66. Fascinating comment on this fb thread

Tim McClew Jen Thomson, I'm late to the party here (given Humberto's great critique, above), but with regard to the idea of truth/falsity, it's a classic CoIntelPro technique. Here is something I wrote a few days ago on the subject:

“The things other people have put into my head, at any rate, do not fit together nicely, are often useless and ugly, are out of proportion with one another, are out of proportion with life as it really is outside my head.”
    ― Kurt Vonnegut

In the shadowy realm of Counter-Intelligence Programming (CoIntelPro), a common mind control/misdirection tactic is to provide a series of philosophical positions or evidence-based arguments that contain 90% truth with 10% falsehoods embedded within those truths, with these falsehoods specifically-designed to undermine/reverse the overall "thrust" of the presented position.
This is a very powerful method of misleading people into thinking that the CoIntelPro agent is supporting a certain cause, while they use subconscious triggers to sow doubt, division, logical fallacies, cognitive dissonance and oppositional/'motivated reasoning' brain entraininment frequencies in their 'target audience'.
Two examples of this deception tactic:
    1) Terrence McKenna makes a bold case for the idea that "culture is not your friend", and apparently champions the primacy of the individual with regards to sovereignty of consciousness, deconstruction of reality and sentient exploration of the self...and yet, as you continue to explore his writings, he is actually championing an "Archaic Revival", which is a - wait for it - shamanic cultural model where there are most definitely culturally-imposed boundaries on how society is to be organized, based on ancient ("archaic") traditions of 'entheogenic' ("hypersuggestives", in Jan Irvin's terminology) religious indoctrination.
    2) The mind-control construct labeled as "Jesus Christ" (by Emperor Titus and his priesthood) looks to be a pretty chill dude who seems to provide a stark philosophical 'break' from the psychopathic activities of the Old Testament God Impersonator. Ahhh, but what is this, buried in Matthew 5:17?
" Do not think that I have come to do away with or undo the Law or the Prophets; I have come not to do away with or undo, but to complete and fulfill them."
This may be one of the most perfect examples of the power of this PsyOp routine - how many modern day 'pick-and-choose Christians' are quick to denounce the raping, pillaging, mass-murdering Lord of the Old Book, and turn to the "Christ Consciousness" love and light of the NewTestament, not realizing that - similar to Obama's "Hope & Change" rhetoric being a cover for "more of the same, with added drone assaults" - the devil lay hidden in the theological details?
The lesson, as always: develop the strength of the neurological tissue that runs from your pelvic bowl, through your heart, to your brain; study the classical form of grammar/logic/rhetoric; memorize the many forms of logical fallacies; follow the money/agenda of any system of thought; trust in your ability to observe, instead of relying on belief."

  67. People are wondering why Teal's popularity is growing and growing although her past story and teachings are a mess.

For the same reason why the horrendous bath salt drug is becoming more and more popular although it is pure shit. She and this stuff offers the person a way out of the dilemma but at the same time...destroys any kind of healthy bodies or mind constructs... Bath salt druggies get high on this shit, Tealer druggies get high on the escapism of self glorifying narcissism, a fake family of druggie meetings and let's face it: all tealers seem to truly enjoy a mind fuck.

When i was dating this man (who infact is teal as a man), he would constantly try to talk with me about my traumatas ...to a point of me being totally exhausted, dressed in black, crying on every walk. He then would REALLY sort out some of my though salad....to a point which felt great but added 10% of new, higher intense shit. ....

I can't get over how similar Teal and he are. I guess that's why i am so on this Tealnut case....until it is truly seen for what it is.

  69. My dog just looked at me and I had a realization:

The fooled people of the past try to protect foolish people in this very moment. Do we not all have in common to be fooled by a con artist in the past and try to get over it? I realize that that I have a great amount of anger towards myself for letting myself being fooled in such an intense way. A part of me wants to stop con artists and so much time and energy goes into that teal matter aka ex man matter that is not beneficial.

I cannot stop the ones who are getting fooled right now for their very own reasons. I cannot stop Teal to fool the masses nor can I stop this guy to fool more women. I can stop myself being fooled by Teals and the part of me how want to give her a penality point... is there - I admit.

But I am the only place in space and time who needs to be corrected. LV was fooled in the past by a guru, Jessica was fooled by the new age stuff projection on her, I was fooled by this lover guru shit starter, Maggie was fooled ( i think?)... We all have this in common and based on this there is a deep desire in us to STOP THEM. But hey, how?

How can you ever stop somebody else?

I still don't know what to do with teh deep desire to publicly point out con artistery and to limit their damage and me and others... But I finally understand, that it is really non of my business to take way the drugs of others.

A strange place to be in...and there is still this anger that people like Teal, mean spirited (if all this stuff that cameron was saying is real) GET A WAY with this SHIT. ANGRY I AM. :O and angry I am that it could happen to me, that I didn't see it in time.

    Interesting!

  70. You know, GA, you can't stop anybody or change anybody's mind. All you can ever do is speak your own truth and start a conversation. That's all I've done with these posts. And I think I've been pretty open about the fact that I'm still processing the religious abusers of my past. This is part of a healing process for me. And yet minds have been changed because of it. Some have, some haven't. But all those minds are the responsibility of those people, not me. I speak my truth, my opinions, my observations, and they either resonate for people or they don't. Let go. Let God.

    ReplyDelete
  71. So, I don't know what to make of the CointelPro comment. I think it's a strange reading of that scripture. It comes from Matthew 5, sermon on the mount. It's not entirely clear that he's speaking of the law of what we call the Old Testament. There was no Old Testament then. There was the Torah and that may have been what he was referring to. There were other texts as well. But he may have been thinking of the clobber verses or something completely different, because it was as hard then to justify contradictory texts then as it is now. And Jewish scholars have always been more willing to debate texts than Christians. It's not a don't think, just swallow culture, as fundamentalist Christianity is. So I don't know. I think that's a leap.

For the record, the most common interpretation of that scripture is that Christ knew he was there to pay the blood price and that this was the fulfillment he was referring to. Never again would anyone need to stoned to death because God's own son shed his blood to "fulfill the law."

All of that assumes a Biblical Jesus, but that's a whole 'nother can of worms.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I'm looking at some of the comments on the BATGAP page. Rick Archer has seen fit to apologize for the sexism of his comments to teal about her flaunting her body.

"Later in this interview I suggested that Teal might 'tone down the glam image', or some such language. Some viewers, including my wife, pointed out that this was patronizing and sexist. As Irene pointed out, I didn’t tell Chris Grosso, who is covered in tattoos, that he should tone it down. (Not that I have any issue with his appearance.) So I apologize for that as well."

The response from Siddhartha is priceless:

"Rick, it is so kind of you to apologize for various things you said that other have found inapt, but I do disagree with your wife’s characterization of your comment about Teal 'toning it down.' I did not see it as patronizing or sexist. I do see Teal as patronizing and sexist – just a little research about her reveals this. What is sexist is to exploit her appearance to gain followers, revel in her attractiveness, etc. Sure, she is just exploiting what society finds valuable much as strippers, etc. do in the marketplace. But doing so herself reveals her to be shallow and non-substantive and really hurts her credibility. On the other hand, it would be just plain weird to tell someone to tone down their tattoos – I do not see society worshipping at the altar of people with tattoos. I do see society worshipping at the altar of superficial beauty and calling Teal out on this was entirely appropriate, in my view. Keep up the great shows! Namaste."

I do think it's sexist the way women are constantly blamed for being attractive and for the way their bodies affect people. But when a woman deliberately exploits her own body to gain attention for something unrelated, that's as sexist as ads that exploit women's bodies to sell everything from cars to hamburgers. But teal herself said in that interview that "sex sells."

Her comments in response to Archer's concerns were both sexist and agist. Her comments in the embedded video in the blog post on this page are both sexist and racist. So, please, for the love of God, Rick Archer, stop apologizing for calling a spade a spade.

  73. A final note on the BATGAP interview. A couple of days ago they slashed the forum comments on teal's appearance from 5 pages to 3. Among the missing comments, links to my blog and Bernhard Guenther's Facebook post regarding teal. The comments are now closed, but there's been a little activity including a half-assed explanation from a BATGAP mod. What's really funny about this is that the nameless, faceless mod admits that he/she thinks teal is a fraud and recommends a cult watch site, but does it in a really snarky way. Just bizarre. The link to the now final page is here:

  74. Wow, I read the pages at the BATGAP forum a few days ago. That discussion was actually really valuable IMO to show reactions of the commenters. The end result is strange that a moderator would actually take a position but eliminate pages of comments.

I actually came to make a comment on Teal's Kambo frog medicine post. (Of course I am unable to stop checking her story hehe.) Kambo is not something I have encountered but I have faith in the natural world allies.

It was in synch with me looking at castor oil as a health ally. I was noticing the strange way that poison and medicine are so linked. The vehicle and the context makes a big difference. I am linking this video about castor beans/oil as it mentions just how poisonous it is taken internally.

    http://youtu.be/CSBRRjimW_s

This is a big metaphor for me lately...that the difference between poison and medicine must be discerned by open access to sound knowledge. How can one develop knowledge if censoring to retain only the acceptable social "likes" is maintained?? Therefore BATGAP is mistaken in censorship IMO.

I sincerely hope that Teal's journey did help her access coherence for her life.

  75. The frog thing was interesting. I actually found that to be one of teal's most readable posts ever... until it got really egomaniacal again, towards the end. And know what you mean about the poison/medicine thing. Something you see a lot with shamanic tools. Shamans see the things the dead see and live to tell about it. And working with things like ayahuasca and other plant teachers, they're not recreational. They can be hellish.

But, yeah, BATGAP... what is up with that? And I read a lot of that conversation. It was not repetitive or spammy. I don't know what's going on over there.

Just did a little walk around the block of Teal's online town....

    oh good.

"project gratitude and love to Teal event" - a nice way to keep the loved up Tealers in their supportive frame of mind.

    Teal fb page
"This morning I experienced the most amazing thing. I was on a morning jog and I sat down to feel the love I felt being projected at me from all different sides of the globe. I unzipped my jacket and began to see people's faces in my mind's eye. My mind went into a panic, trying to get my attention off of the feeling while my heart opened wide to let the feeling in. It felt like an empty pitcher being filled with life force energy. I told my mind "It's ok to be scared" three times and focused on breathing in the appreciation that was streaming in my direction. And then, I experienced a major healing. The loving energy that was coming into me from the people participating in today's "project gratitude and love to Teal event" was the color of the sunset, shifting between yellows and oranges and pinks and reds like an internal aurora. And then I felt these blockages, preventing the love from reaching everything. I got the feeling that I was so heavy and that my body was thousands of pounds and that I was a hundred miles wide. This extreme weight and the blockages started to feel like it was caused by rocks inside of me. I mentally opened my chest (like one would doing surgery) and large, dense black rocks began to fall out. It seemed like they would never stop coming out. Eventually, I removed the final one and imagined rolling it down the mountain side into the river. Then, I Breathed in the energy once more and it filled every little centimeter of space inside my body. I felt loved and wanted and like my soul had been fed. I sent a thanks to the universe for the experience. I was very off balance and dizzy running back to the house afterward. Thank you to Amir Masud and everyone who sent love my way this morning. You cannot imagine how healing it was... Especially since I am dedicated to the practice of receiving lately. I love you and am grateful for you too.

  81. Noncast: Scooby Doo and the Case of TEAL's Missing Citations pt 1

I heard a rumor that Sarbdeep has given up coffee. If this week's teacast is any indicator, I gotta wonder if this might be a mistake. That cup of tea was just not cutting it. He was practically falling out of his chair.

"Are those his jammies? Did she drag him out of bed?" ~ J

And as tired and listless as Sarbdeep was, teal was amped. She was positively manic. This was a strange, strange episode.

We kind of count on Sarbdeep to keep these conversations at least somewhat on track and to be that all important "voice of reason," as they call him. But he was really phoning it in. These were pro-forma, cookie cutter questions, like he was reading from a script straight out of Interviewing for Dummies.

"Do you think a lot of people are in a negative spiral?... How does someone get out of a negative spiral?"

He really didn't seem to care what the answers were. He looked like he just wanted this over so he could go back to bed.

And teal was wearing the blue parka again. What's up with that? Is it that cold in her house? Maybe there should be an actual fire in the fireplace?

So, how do you get out of a negative spiral? Thirty-eight minutes later, we still have no idea. You shouldn't try to be happy, but you shouldn't try to be present with it either, as in shadow work, except when you should, but you should try to ascend the vibrational scale, but just to the point of "relief" not happiness, except at the moment of relief you should "pivot" into positivity. But sometimes you just gotta go for the brass ring and jump to the opposite to shake up your life.

Gotta say, 2.0 pretty much went out window on this one -- very little about steering into the pain. And, as ever, there is nothing whatsoever about just being present with what you're feeling. In fact, she recommends distraction. There is really nothing about getting honest with what you're feeling, proving once again, that she knows nothing about real shadow work.

At one point, she actually walks her audience through what can only be described as an exercise in rationalizing, self-exoneration, and blame-throwing your way out of a negative spiral. Summary: I'm not done with my project and it's really all my professor's fault.

"She's actually training people to be narcissists." ~ J

For all the convolutions, punctuated by outbursts of maniacal laughter, this sounded like garden variety LOA stuff. So I thought it was kind of funny when I received the following in my inbox this morning. Oh look, it's an Abraham-Hicks vibrational scale, graphed out as upward and downward spirals. You know what I notice about the brief text on that page?

"Abraham-Hicks has come up with a series of emotions that will help you work from feeling bad to feeling better about what ever you are experiencing. If you find where you are emotionally on the scale, and then try and find thoughts that feel just a tad bit better about it. Small baby steps toward Joy."

It says in a single, short paragraph what teal tried to say for 38 minutes, and without crazy statements like, "babier and babier and babier steps."

Because, yes, she really says that.

  82. Noncast: Scooby Doo and the Case of TEAL's Missing Citations pt 2

Here's a slightly more in-depth explanation of this Abraham-Hicks method that still manages to convey it all in pretty straight-forward, uncrazy language.

You know what I never hear when teal talks about the vibrational scale? The name Abraham-Hicks. But this model does have a source and that is it.

Once again, is teal allergic to citations?

When she isn't stealing intellectual property, she's just giving bad advice. Cancer support groups are bad because they make you think cancer thoughts and magnetize cancer. Of course, that's not terribly original either. It sounds a lot like Rhonda Byrne's weight-loss advice to "not observe" fat people.

Neither Sarbdeep nor teal should talk about twelve step recovery, you know, ever. Sarbdeep thinks it's just not good that his alcoholic friend is uncomfortable around wine, proving that he doesn't understand addiction at all. If AA were working, they wouldn't be alcoholics because they would have gotten to the "root" cause.

Really? There are people who still think like this? Um, addiction has a biochemical component and you don't, I'm very sorry, just get over some nexus of emotional damage and stop being an addict.

It's more of that "don't dwell" shit that makes the most puerile of LOA material antithetical to deep emotional healing. Twelve Step programs aren't perfect, but as anyone who works a program can tell you, the presence and radical honesty that comes from sharing with other addicts can be transformational. It looks hella more like shadow work than teal and her 2.0. I don't think it's any accident that Debbie Ford was a recovering drug addict.

So, really, a lot of this was just under-informed, badly cribbed, and dumb. But it did take a really dark turn. We're starting to think that teal can't go half an hour without plugging suicide as the ultimate solution to your woes. This time, she wasn't even ten minutes in.

According to teal, a lot of nameless law of attraction teachers call the things you want but haven't manifested yet your "vibrational escrow." You know who talks a lot about this "vibrational escrow?" Funnily, when you put "vibrational escrow" into google, it's just pages and pages and pages of Abraham-Hicks... and people quoting Abraham Hicks. So, basically, it's Abraham-Hicks. Again.

So teal talks a lot about how suicide is a way to close the gap between your current misery and everything you desire. In fact to hear her tell it, it's delightful. At that moment of death you merge with the best of everything you've ever wanted. Says teal, "That's why it feels so good to die."

Yes, she really says that. Like she KNOWS.

So you know who else says that suicide is just a rapid way to "close the gap" between your current misery and your "vibrational escrow?" Well, it's funny. It turns out it's Abraham-Hicks.

  83. Noncast: Scooby Doo and the Case of TEAL's Missing Citations pt 3

So listening to Abraham-Hicks, which I pretty much never do, is like listening to a better organized, somewhat more emotionally congruent version of everything that spills out of teals pie-hole. Well, except for the knife story... probably. I don't think Esther Hicks has ever asked the waitress for a SET of knives. Because who does? But according to teal, this is how waitresses show love and remind you that the universe if bountiful. When teal needs to feel the love of a waitress she asks for a new set of knives.

How many knives does she need?! She's a vegetarian! She doesn't even need a steak knife!

So my husband and I imagine that the conversation must go a little like this:

TEAL: Waitress. I seem to have thrown all my knives and haven't hit a single apple or popped even one balloon. May have another set?

WAITRESS: Yes, because I love you. Zorro. You are my favorite customer.

MANAGER: Table six needs more rolls.... and some tomahawks.

So this teacast was just completely surreal. It was just teal badly paraphrasing Abraham-Hicks at about ninety miles an hour, laughing maniacally, and citing strange examples of things that don't happen in reality, while Sarbdeep struggled to stay awake.

Also surreal and lacking in citations was the Ask Teal video on orgasms. It's all kind of predictable. There's a disturbance in the tealverse, as her former housemate and verbal abuse victim Cameron Clark breaks her silence in a lengthy, in-depth interview, so teal puts out a pandering, sex-themed video.

"I hated that so much... but for entirely different reasons than I thought I was going to hate it." ~ J

Mostly, it's just really, really boring. Who knew sex magic could be made so dull?

For the first several minutes, it's basically a sex ed class description of the mechanics of orgasm. It's very clinical and it's obvious she's quoting unnamed sources. She alludes at one point to a study at "a university" in the Netherlands but never states the name of the university, the study's authors, or specifically what was studied... other than orgasm. Anyway, I found it by googling some of her badly stammered technical terms. It's here. They do show a picture of the University of Groningen, so that's nice... for people in the Netherlands who might recognize it.

This is as close as she gets to a citation in this video.

After sex ed 101, or maybe it was 2.0, we are treated to a really unsexy montage of images testifying to the benefits of orgasm. These include a picture of a cat, for some reason. I guess a lot of people don't like orgasms and need to be convinced using the key currency of the internet -- cute animals.

  84. Noncast: Scooby Doo and the Case of TEAL's Missing Citations pt 4

According to teal, there are two kinds of orgasms, explosive and implosive. This is our signal that we've left the realm of the clinical, and entered the world of badly parroted tantra. Worse, she states quite plainly that female orgasms are more naturally implosive -- helpful graphic of Disney Princess. And men more naturally have explosive orgasms -- helpful graphic of The Village People. Can I just say that this conjured a whole lot of images of leather bars that I really didn't want in my head?

Experts, says teal, can't agree on which of these two types of orgasms is preferable. What experts these are, she does not say. Experts in what exactly, she does not say. But she takes the risky, cutting edge position that either is fine. Yes, you could go both ways.

Implosive orgasms are the domain of tantric and taoist practices and based on beliefs that the standard, genital orgasm depletes the body of vital energy and that an internal cultivation of that energy is possible through disciplined practice. I can only imagine that she gets the idea that women are more innately inclined towards implosive orgasms because they are often conflated with "vaginal" over "clitoral" orgasms. This is unfortunate because vaginal orgasms are something of a misunderstanding of physiology. The data are pretty clear. All female orgasms are clitoral, but for some woman -- roughly one third -- the stem of the clitoris is close enough to the vaginal wall to allow for contact through penetration.

Somehow, in the midst of her sloppy data and nameless experts, teal sees fit to act as an expert on such things as why some women can't achieve orgasm. Her qualifications are...

Finally, after all this, we get to the point of this exercise: manifestation through orgasm. What I had almost hoped might be an equally bad regurgitation of sex magick practices from Aleister Crowley or something, wasn't nearly as interesting. It really comes down to this: The release of orgasm makes a person open and receptive to spirit. Okay. Therefore it's a great time to do those creative visualizations of things you want. It's like LOA on steroids or something.

Next comes a tedious exercise in gender stereotyping. Ladies, visualize the loving partnership you've always wanted. Because to get the relationship of your dreams, first you need to... have sex... with... someone...

Men, see that job promotion happening! Yes, during sex with your beloved, immediately after orgasm, you want to think about the office... AND YOUR BOSS. Well, if you really want to succeed, you will.

Oh, and those fantasies that help you clinch the deal, so to speak, and achieve orgasm? Drop them immediately and think about, you know, that corner office you want. Because if you're, say, having some BDSM fantasy -- or reality maybe? -- you might accidentally create a life for yourself as a submissive in other areas of your life. This makes no sense at all. A lot of highly successful people, male and female, seek out professional dominants as relief from the pressures of the boardroom.

  85. Noncast: Scooby Doo and the Case of TEAL's Missing Citations pt 5

But our real question, after all of this, is why are images of BDSM conflated with the actual "deviancy" of pedophilia. Seriously. It goes handcuffs, terrified child with a man's giant hand over her mouth, Disney. WTF???

And why, for the love of God, is teal, of all people, acting as a scold on the dangers of "deviancy" and pornography? It's especially odd considering some of the revelations in Cameron's interview.

I don't know. Do these things make her an expert on sex and spirituality? Could that be why she doesn't feel the need to cite a single, tangible source?

Her lack of citations becomes positively comic in this week's special Halloween post. In it we learn that the "enlightened" teal is still so traumatized by all those icky Satanic Mormon practices that she can't risk answering the door for trick-or-treaters. She might get triggered and have a seizure. Fortunately, she has people for that, and can peek, on occasion, at the really cute kids in unthreatening costumes.

"For the Satanic cult I was around as a child, Samhain is a High Holy Day.  A Sabbath calling for blood sacrifice (animal if no human could be procured) and sexual climax by a priest who had invoked the possession of a demon.  Because of the intensely gruesome rituals I had to witness around Samhain, it is a difficult Holliday [sic] for me.  I have often said that I would love to pack up and leave to a country that doesn’t celebrate Halloween for two weeks to avoid the Holliday [sic]."

Yeah, Samhain is dark... if you're a Mormon Satanist.

But it's not the only thing that seems a bit off in Utah. Apparently leaves turn grey there in the fall, while in most of the known world, they turn brown. That sounds like some kind of dark sorcery to me.

Where the post really gets fun is in teal's various recitations of Halloween traditions, some partially remembered from her past lives... because karma is irrelevant (???).

"I don’t remember any trick or treating, but scholars have suggested that during some celebrations of Samhain, villagers would disguise themselves in costumes made of animal skins to drive away unwanted spirit visitors.  It is said that certain Celtic villages would set out large banquet tables full of food to placate the spirits.  As a result, people began dressing as ghosts, demons and other malevolent creatures, performing antics so as to provoke the receiving of food and drink. This custom, which is known as mumming, dates back to the Middle Ages."

What scholars these might be, she does not say, but they appear to be different from the "Halloween historians" she cites further down. Yes, apparently there's such a thing as a Halloween historian. So, I definitely picked the wrong major. If only I'd known I could get a degree in Halloween.

"According to Halloween historians, young people took part in a tradition called guising, dressing up in costume and accepting offerings from various households."

And what teal post would be complete without an out of body foray?

"I was curious this morning about why there is an association between Halloween and witches riding flying broomsticks.  So I went out of body to see for myself.  I found that there used to be a ritual among Wiccan and Pagan women, where they would go out to the crops and symbolically sweep over the top of them to clean and purify the energy of the soil for Winter and for next year’s crops.  But, I also found that some crops they grew were either themselves alkaloid hallucinogens (like henne-belle) or contained fungus that were powerful hallucinogens.  Some witches that practiced magic in association with the Wiccan and Pagan faith, would make flying ointment or witches brew out of these hallucinogenic compounds. They were absorbed through the skin.  They would then anoint a staff or often a broom handle (as brooms were used symbolically in pagan rituals) and anoint themselves with it in certain places, like their arm pits and ride on it, allowing the ointment to be absorbed through their sexual organs.  The hallucinations would often cause the witches to dance about in a crazed way and feel as if they were flying.   Basically, early European witches were using their hallucinogen-laden broomsticks to get high."

It's funny how much of the arcane knowledge teal discovers when she's wondering around out of body can be found just as easily on Wikipedia and other web sources.

And so concludes the case of the missing citations. Looks like it's all a simple google search away.

  87. Did you see the cheeky smile in Teal's eyes and the somehow robotic cry? The whole -on your side- interview with Teal was just surreal and looked like a performance. I also found the approach of the interviewer (bravely facing a short skirted Teal again 0:33 and some of his comments were just strange.
Her Teacasts are just comical. It looks like a play and a weekly fashion show off. AS you said, all she says is easily googled, Sarbdeep looks bored and he is just another man who tries to (take) care of/for Teal.

Also noticed that she is separating her Satanist story from her brand Teal Swan in the interview…which is a new approach. As far as I remember she is not helping satanic abused victims as stated in the interview…. This whole interview was pure strangeness.

  90. the interesting part is that it is the first time that she says that it happened in idaho. In all 150 radio & skype interviews she was always saying utah. Maybe because it is FOX/ABC in Boise, IDAHO? I remember her saying that a major channel is interested on interviewing her. BUt nothing ever happened. So now she tries to relate to local news stations who are small enough to be willing to do an interview. Also the cut of this 3 hour recording and dialog material is just beyond strange. Teal sounds very cold and angry at the beginning....her short dress is showing a lot of legs...then it is covered up again (ha so teal...miss I am aware of it) ... her crying looks more like an act than a real emotion, I also wonder why they refer to her as helping other abuse victims in relation to her website..... I bet this was the hook. Blake contacted this station and presented the concept of ritual abuse victim supports now other ritual abuse victims. She doesn't. The only time she ever related to other ritual abuse victims was her mentioning that she was so impossibly fast in recovery than all the others.

Independent of my own ideas about Teal's past... I was wondering why the guy was always referring to "hard to believe...is it really true etc". The news station would usually blow it up rather than tuning it down and doubting it.

btw: jessica schab (who deletes just as Teal any kind of critical comment which questions her mission) mentioned that Cameron was told by Blake that Teal had teeth which were given to police.

As long as there is no proof, no criminal, no statement from her parents...all you have, are Teals told past or tales. Only she knows because there is No evidence and in this regard it is the perfect hook for her attention seeking, desperate try to expand her spiritual blabla career. Nobody can proof the opposite and people who doubt her , are very likely to be viewed as heartless etc...

Teal is the first New Age Domina. She is so in controll and has so much iron in the fire and the perfect alibi hook story....it is scary.

I do read her and have often noticed synchronicity and agreement with her (thinking along similar lines). She recently did a blog on Satanic Abuse and actually said in so many words that we should support Teal. TEAL? I see Teal all over the place.

Even though I am certain Teal has been wounded, sexually exploited in some way hurt as a child, no doubt is now compelled to "be a poster child" and be "seen", I think she represents trash.

I THINK the ground of her claimed "specialness", what she does, what she represents to me of false is not palatable, not nourishing. That is just my need of course to talk back to this manipulative energy . I don't want to battle it.... just rebuke it.

Weirdly even though I did plan to de-escalate my attention, she is showing up in places that I have been "going" already and more often shoing up.

  100. On mary's fb page in the respond section to her statement

    Blake Dyer
Hello Everyone, I do feel I have to clear the air here a little now that Mary has made this entire thing public. Mary was very welcome to all of the workshops. There was a misunderstanding with the first workshop Mary attended after editing the book in Chicago. I didn't know she was going to be at the workshop until 2 days before the workshop, when we were already in route. Mary was invited to the Volunteer Dinner and it is a given that our volunteers attend for Free. We were working out some final aspects of the book edit and I received an explosive email about not being a slave, and Teal (who was not involved) needing to get off her high horse. It needs to be said that Mary has made her disapproval of Teal very clear to many people in Teal Tribe behind our backs and also on occasion in explosive emails to me; one bad enough that she personally called Teal and apologized for it. She has been offered a free ticket to every workshop since Chicago. She has chosen not to come, instead she has come to the ‘Teal tribe house” in order to make money with her own intuitive insights on the side through the people who are there. A few months ago, when two members of Teal Tribe booked private sessions with Teal, Mary invited herself along. She was told not to come by Sarbdeep because she did not have a session herself. In reality, she was told not to come on account of the “discord” that still existed unhealed between Mary and ourselves. Teal’s house is a sanctuary and must stay that way. It is not a place where people can just invite themselves, especially if there is negativity in the air. Obviously being told not to come only fanned the flames and she became more upset. She went on to encourage people to stop following Teal and continued to come to the Teal Tribe house in each city, not attending the actual workshop, but instead engaging in derogatory arguments about Teal. She has continued to cause rifts between people. She betrayed the trust of multiple people who trusted her with their deepest vulnerable truths and these people, Teal holds very dear. It makes no sense to come to the Teal Tribe houses while simultaneously openly criticizing Teal and her work. The Teal Tribe houses are a continuation of the Synchronization workshops. Not a place for people to come criticize Teal, hang out and make money by riding off of Teal’s coattails. Now Mary is publicly calling Teal out even though Teal had nothing to do with any of this scenario and is only now having to involve herself with the story because Mary is calling her out. I have tried for several months to quiet the flames of this conflict unsuccessfully. We have tried to make peace and offer her whatever we can so she feels valued or so the conflict is remedied. Sarbdeep also said to her that should she be open to healing or re-connecting in the future, the door is open to her. And now that Mary has made the conflict public as well as painted herself as a victim. Now everyone is now involved. I feel that this is a Divisive move by Mary. This upsets me as I feel it is a major distraction for the work and from what we are trying to do. We are sorry everyone is involved in this now.
    Sincerely Blake

I cannot read this now but I did not invite myself that is hearsay. John Malotky asked me to come and I was very excited, I'll admit- so I overlooked the potentiality that it was not a direct invite.
and I was asked to do more edits on the book which took me three days and they were not included- and all I was told was 'sorry they didn't get included Mary'
which was why I said I am not a slave and the high horse comment
    because it's true
    I'm not a slave
and I'll admit it was reactionary at not being offered a ticket when I was constantly being asked by other friends to go to the workshops.

I will read the rest later.

  101. I agree, GA. This bodes ill for those countries that teal intends to buy. Shunning, public shaming, and banning, are her MO. Rapists and murderers, though, will be "rehabilitated" through love bombing in that circle thing and unleashed on tealciety again. But people who her spies tell her are saying mean things about her: Out you go!

I found this conversation disgusting. And I was getting screenshots throughout the day from tribers who were less than cool with what was going on. It was ugly! The public shaming started on TT shortly after this gal made her very polite, totally not vindictive statement on her FB page about having been asked to leave TT.

Personally, I think the trouble starts with expecting people to volunteer for things without any sort of compensation. I hate this and you see it a lot in the new agedom. If someone is earning a profit in a venture, other people need to be paid for their work. And if you really can't afford to pay people, there needs to be other form of compensation. The big expos take volunteers, but they're all compensated. They get free entry into some of the lectures and things like that. Their compensation is spelled out in advance.

To ask for and expect someone to do something as labor and talent intensive as editing a book with zero compensation is INSANE. No one does this. Even churches often pay actual money for things that require a lot of time or skill or both.

I do think this gal was being a little codependent by offering to do the work without any clear statement of how her contribution would be honored. I think she was being codependent by "needing to fix" something that she thought was done sloppily. I say that because I am a gratefully recovering codependent and I know these patterns all too well. I've finally become free of the need, for instance, to put misplaced items in grocery stores back where they belong, at least if it's not right in front of me and simple. Yes, I admit it. I have actually walked things aisles over because the disorder drove me nuts. I'm not being paid to do that. I've learned to walk away. Whew. And I've done things exactly as this woman did -- offered to do things, I thought, out of the goodness of my heart -- and then fostered resentment because my effort wasn't appreciated and there was no reciprocity. Reciprocity matters.

You know, one of the biggest lies told in the new age world is that indigenous peoples do things for free because money is inherently evil. It's simply untrue. Not only are shamans, midwives, healers, and so on compensated with a barter-like system, so is the spirit world. If you take a feather off the ground, you ask first and you leave some tobacco or cornmeal or something. You don't just take stuff. If you get soul parts retrieved by a shaman, you don't just compensate the shaman, you honor the spirit world by making some kind of offering.

Christina told a story in one of her shows, I can't remember which one, about a shaman who was working with an anthropologist, who started having trouble with her helping spirits. What she came to understand was that the anthropologist was not making offerings to the spirit world because he didn't understand that he was supposed to. It had never occurred to the shaman that this was something that required explanation because it was so obvious. In her world, everybody knows you give thanks to the helping spirits with little gifts of tobacco and the like.

This was a totally avoidable situation and, once again, comes down to teal's vanity and sense of entitlement. People should be honored just for the opportunity to do things for her and give her stuff. Her very existence is her gift to the world. She's a Eucharist, you know.

Meanwhile, this is a spiritual teacher? Really? This is how spiritual teachers talk to their followers when there's conflict? There was no give in her position. No willingness to hear what this woman was saying unless it was exactly what she wanted to hear. She didn't wanted to have a conversation or achieve any mutual understanding. She was playing to win, period. She said on TT she needed to "dance" with someone. This was a verbal boxing match, which is unfortunate for her, because she didn't lay a glove on this woman. Rope-a-dope, baby. She lost.

  103. I was living for a long time with a -I-do-it-for-free-bug myself. This urge to improve or correct stuff which i am professionally focused towards... Until I was talking to this guy in a pub. He was saying that when I am offering stuff for free (meaning no money, object, service exchange) I would first of all put the other person into depth towards me (unconsciously) , secondly I would take away energy which belongs to my children and I would disrespect my own time and skill. That is all he ever said to me and man, his words rocked my world.

    I would rather assume that

    1. Blake fucked up to announce the offer to a volunteer
    2. Blake fucked up because he is not in control of the time management of larger projects sometimes
    3. Mary fucked up for not suggesting an exchange deal herself
(but maybe that would look too greedy to many NA people and always destroys the holy aura around the head ( ; during service)
    4. Teal fucked double up for NOT PAYING ATTENTION to EVERY (there are not many!!!) volunteer (my dad worked in a bank. He would always greet the cleaners at night, ask how they are and have a little chat with them...)
    5. Teal fucked up for repeating the Cameron approach
    6. Tealtribe groupies fucked up a la STASI (google it and you will understand)
    7. the spiritual catalyst brand fucked up for doing expos and require free service between tealers
    8. Teal fucked up because she gave so many cards away during the conversation that it is impossible to miss her dominance, arrogance, manipulative nature, control freak nature and deep core research about the manipulative psychology strategies....

I did get a little smile because this woman was difficult to confuse....

anyway I learnt: - when shit hits the fan, Teal will hunt you down like a saber-tooth foz, she will try to rip you into bits and put you together according to her current desires and her currents need for an alibi. If she doesn't succeed She will send her tribe pack after you.

What a lovely lady she is.

  108. Some thoughts on Sunday's Online Workshop:

I'm so glad they dressed for this. They both look like they rolled out of bed and picked up random clothing items off the bedroom floor. Sarbdeep is wearing some sort of grey athletic pants with lime green racing stripes, a navy T-shirt and a fancy, slate blue cardigan. You know, I count on him to wear beautifully elegant attire... or at least for his clothes to match.

I don't want to make too much of this, but where are their wedding rings? They're not wearing them. Sarbdeep isn't wearing one in the most recent teacast either. (Yes, yes. The noncast is coming.) In most, not all of the older teacasts, he's wearing a wedding ring and, as has been noted by a number of people in these comments, he fidgets with it when he's looking nervous and uncomfortable. This time he just fidgeted with his naked ring finger.

Also missing is Sarbdeep's name from the copy for this workshop. Here's the copy for the last online workshop. It's all about Sarbdeep's role in the process. Here's the copy for this past Sunday's. He's not mentioned at all. I wasn't at all sure he was going to be in this one. Turns out he was, doing his level best to be the "voice of reason," as they call him. Someone has to be logical and rational because teal is on a permanent Ayahuasca trip, having released all the DMT in her brain. Uh huh.

Sarbdeep has been conspicuous by his absence lately. He's shut down his Facebook page and removed himself from Teal Tribe, as both admin and member. I know what you're thinking. If his FB account is inactive, he won't show in the member listing for TT. But he briefly reactivated his FB account last week and he still wasn't listed on TT.

Things that make you go hmmm....

I'm afraid teal opened with another of her "guided meditations." This one is on "cord cutting" except that it isn't. After putting everyone into relaxed meditative state to the sound of her nasal, Midwestern twang, she instructs them to start thinking about the connections they have with people. So, after putting them, ideally, into the receptive state of meditation, she snaps them back into their thinking, or "alert, problem solving" state, as Graham Hancock calls it. That's a little jarring. Worse, she then gives a litany of negative relational dynamics: "fear, attachment, worry, obligation, desperation, need, jealousy, guilt, and so much more."

I know when I'm doing a guided meditation and I'm in a relaxed hypnotic state, I really want to be focusing on toxic relationships and uncomfortable emotions and mental states.

Again, teal is supposedly a law of attraction person. According to her, our vibration, our thoughts and feelings, "attract" their "match." So she lulls people who can stand the sound of her voice into a suggestible state -- the state we go into to PROGRAM OUR MINDS -- and then throws them into fear and upset.

Rather than simply have people scan their energy for cords, she has them looking for a specific person and relationship. Then, after picturing the person, they can look for the cord that connects them. When they find cords they're not only looking for where they attach to themselves but to the other party.

    - to be cont -

    ReplyDelete
  109. - cont -

According to teal, if you want to get rid of the cord, you have to understand the negative patterns of the relationship. "See or sense or feel the negative patterns in your relationship with this person. Why might you have allowed them to attach this cord to you? Why might they have allowed you to attach this cord to them?... What are you afraid will happen if this cord is not there?"

Then she instructs people to consider why they are or aren't ready to release the cord, and if not, leave it there. Just leave the cord there. You might never want release it, says teal, and that's just fine.

Despite calling this a cord cutting meditation, teal says you should never cut a cord. It should release and dissolve.

After she closes this useless exercise, Sarbdeep pointedly asks her, "Why did you choose this meditation?"

Says teal, "I think the majority of experts out there on cutting cords are actually doing more damage than good..."

There are cord cutting "experts?" I must have missed that in my college course catalog. Is there a graduate program I can take?

Cutting cords is violence and punishment like prison, says teal. It can traumatize you or the other person you're corded to. This is the woman who said in the last online workshop that you should go ahead and remove the cords from the other person. Pulling cords out of someone who has no idea what's happening, that couldn't cause trauma or anything.

So, I don't consider myself an "expert" on cord cutting, but I've learned a bit from teachers, healers, and from my own experience. I respectfully disagree with pretty much everything teal has done here. So here's my take on what's wrong with her meditation and a few recommendations for a better approach.

The person at the other end of the cord is not your responsibility. Thinking that they are is likely one of the reasons you're corded in the first place. Their cord removal is their job should they choose to undertake it. Do not remove cords from other people, period. It's a boundary violation and boundary violations are where cords come from.

You don't actually have to know who's at the other end of the cord. All you really need to do is scan your own energy and see if there are cords attached to you anywhere. They will generally be in the lower three chakras, but not necessarily. I've also known them to show up attached to the heart chakra and the back of the neck, for instance. If an image of a person comes up associated with that cord, that's fine and may be necessary for you to come complete with the problem that needs to be solved, but oftentimes all you'll see is the cord.

When you see a cord, first try plucking it out. If it doesn't release easily, then you might need to cut it. Once cut, the remnant should pluck out more easily. If you run into difficulty, ask for help. Call out to your guides, angels, or other spirit helpers and let them help you remove it.

If the cord does not remove cleanly, when all is said and done, or if it keeps regrowing, you might need to dig deeper and get other kinds of help: therapy, soul retrieval, or other types of healing services.

The problem with what teal has laid out here, as I see it, is you might as well be doing all those other methods as the meditation.

A cord is an abstracted form, a symbol of the enmeshment of a relationship. By doing a cord removal visualization, you are allowing yourself to work on a complicated dynamic in the abstract. It's a ritual, a play of symbolism to facilitate a shift in that dynamic.

That she tells people to just go ahead and leave the cords there, if they don't release, I consider crazy. She's basically saying, don't bother trying to heal yourself and your relationships. Being an autonomous being with healthy boundaries and access to all of your own energy isn't really that necessary. Certainly, we need to patient with our own process, but if you're undertaking a healing process, it should be as constructive as possible. The irony of this is that as this workshop goes on, she has no trouble telling people to jettison any relationship that isn't picture perfect.

The format of the workshop, once again, is a list of viewer questions received and sorted in advance. They've picked the questions most emblematic of the group. The over-all energy of the group -- I guess this is a little like her energy reads on the cities she visits -- is "self-rejection." What's funny about this is that the term comes straight out of one of the questions, read shortly before the break about halfway through this four hour nightmare. So it's not so much an energy read of the group as a literal reading of the questions selected.

I have already addressed teal's, shall we say, novel ideas about evil and malevolence, (page search: rabbit) but it was one of the questions she chooses to address. At around the 34:00 minute mark they read a question about why she says there's no such thing as evil and that relates the problem of the alien threat posed by greys and reptilians.

To answer this question, teal poses a question to Sarbdeep, and I guess by extension, the viewer. Think about a time your life that you really wanted to kill someone. (Does right now count?) Sarbdeep has wanted to kill people who caused tremendous pain because he wanted the pain to stop. Fair 'nuff.

Here's where it gets weird. After flummoxing Sarbdeep on the question of the "opposite of no pain," she explains that reptilians can't answer that question. In actuality, her question seems, um, wrong. Shouldn't she have asked the opposite of pain? It's no wonder he's baffled. She seems delighted, but it appears that she's just called Sarbdeep a reptilian.

Sarbdeep thinks that while there may be no inherently evil people, there are evil acts aren't there?

Where has Sarbdeep been? She has been talking this crap about there being no such thing as a malevolent intention for months. Was he asleep this whole time?

But teal's gonna settle this. Blake, get her a dictionary definition of the word "evil," stat.

He finds what I find at the very top of the page if I use the google: "profoundly immoral and malevolent."

But what's malevolence, says teal? There's really no such thing as a malevolent or negative intention.

So, after making Blake get her a definition, she just discards it as meaningless.

    - to be cont -

    ReplyDelete
  111. - cont -

It all comes down to intention, says teal, as she has done time and time again, and it can't be evil if the intention is positive and feeling good = positive.

Well, hard to argue with that, says Sarbdeep. Is it... well, it is hard to argue with someone who's always right. I'll give you that.

If you can prove to me that it's an evil thing to want to feel better, you have a case, says teal.

Done. Not hard. If feeling good = positive and feeling bad = negative, then negative actions would be those that make a person or people feel bad. To understand why it's evil you simply have to consider not just the intention, but the result -- not just the feelings of the actor, but the feelings of those acted upon. It just means you have to have some sense of EMPATHY.

Psychopaths don't experience empathy which is why evil actions come so easily to them. Narcissists are also empathy impaired.

Her thoroughly solipsistic construction justifies murder, genocide, rape, thrill-killings, vivisection, torture, and every other odious action conceivable, on the basis that the doer is seeking pleasure. The feelings of the victims simply don't matter to her.

I am seriously beginning to wonder if teal is capable of empathy.

At about the 39:00 minute mark, the question is: Do alcohol and other drugs reduce spirituality?

This topic seems to make Sarbdeep uncomfortable, even before teal uses England as an example of people abusing alcohol because they're too stuck in their heads to feel their feelings without it.

As this conversation moves forward he becomes increasingly agitated. He can't sit still. He starts pawing at his face.

At around 43:00 Blake fields a point from someone who says that they experience insights when they're a little tipsy. Yes, Sarbdeep begins to say -- aaaaaand teal totally cuts him off mid-sentence.

"Okay, so would you like me to tell you what's happening."

That is not a question. She's not interested in the answer. If you think that alcohol can bring any insight at all, she's gonna settle your hash. Your experience doesn't matter. This is what it means. Boom!

What's happening, apparently is that Africans and Latin Americans aren't thinkers. (???) But  Northern, white people, the British, for instance, are just so overly defined by their intellect and cut off from their feelings that anything that makes them drop their "resistance" can bring insight.

The punchline is that I basically agree with a lot of what she's saying here. Alcohol is a poison and puts tremendous strain on your body, particularly your brain and all your elimination organs. Drugs used for purposes of escape rather than spiritual exploration don't foster spiritual exploration. Natch. I haven't had a drink since I was in my early twenties and really don't see the point in it. I realized I had been using alcohol to shut down psychically to make things like large groups more bearable, because without a drink or two the empathic bombardment can be painfully overwhelming. I've learned that there are better ways of managing that.

At about the 55:00 minute mark, in the midst of teal's long-winded answer to a relationship question, Sarbdeep starts to look like he's crawling out of his skin. Perhaps because he knows what's coming next: Marriage and being with someone 'til death do you part is silly. It's really about property ownership. Relationships should only last for as long as they're working for people, and until children are self-sufficient and don't need paternal protection anymore. And since she seems to be saying that we should change up partners and do-si-do every 5-7 years, I guess she thinks that children become self-sufficient when they're like 7, tops. Okaaaay.

Of course, if you're doing your shadow work, then you can find someone you can actually spend your life with.

Sarbdeep is very interested in this question he reads at about the 58:00 minute mark: Why does teal close with the symbol of Baphomet? Well, because it's not the symbol of Baphomet. It's American Sign Language for "I love you," and she used to date a deaf guy. Sign language is a "super habit" for her.

Readers of the comments on this blog already know that, but probably better that she try to clear that up once and for all, because it is genuinely stupid. Of course there are people who think Helen Keller was really a Satanic Illuminati stooge. Leave say, I do not ascribe to this view.

So, cat's out of the bag. Sarbdeep does not even believe in the Illuminati, but teal does. Mixed marriages are so hard.

At about the 1:30:00 mark, the question is does teal avoid movies that will lower her vibration?

Yes. Because what you're taking through your eyes is like eating, she says.

Sarbdeep, though, is a "news freak." She won't look at it because the news doesn't give an accurate picture of the world. It ignores the happy stories like mountains that just sit there and look gorgeous. And anyway, it's just needlessly upsetting.

Sarbdeep isn't that upset by it, though. He just reads and reads and doesn't react overmuch. He was upset by a story about oppression of minorities by ISIS, though. According to teal, that's because he a minority so he personally identifies.

Rubbernecking accidents, unlike reading the news, can be a good thing because those witnesses add positive energy through well-wishing. A "huge majority" of the people who survive horrible accidents did so because of the positive intention of rubberneckers, says teal. Why people reading news and caring deeply for the victims of ISIS aren't magically stopping such atrocities, she does not say.

There's a big difference between the "higher perspective" someone like herself experiences in dealing with the sick and dying and being "desensitized.

Sarbs would like to know how to recognize the difference and teal spits, "You're desensitized... I've watched you."

When Sarbdeep reads news, he doesn't get emotional at all. "It's a sociopathic reaction, basically."

What I find interesting, at this point, is that teal has, in the course of this broadcast, compared Sarbdeep to a reptilian and described him as sociopathic. What's funny about that is that these are things she also said about Fallon. He was supposedly a rogue reptilian who was sympathetic to the human cause. And of course, as she was kicking him to the curb, she "diagnosed" him as a sociopath/psychopath.

At about the 2:00:00 mark, Sarbdeep beautifully articulates how he developed healthy boundaries by learning to acknowledge his own needs. This is in response to a relationship question. (Who told Sarbdeep he could answer questions from viewers?!!!) How do you state your boundaries without hurting the other person? By not making them wrong, says Sarbdeep. For example, don't judge the other person's smoking. Just let them know that smoke bothers you and one of you needs to be elsewhere. This is a perfect, lucid explanation of healthy boundaries. It just makes teal look angry and petulant, for some reason.

Wresting control of the topic and the whole question answering process -- the longer this goes on, the more they physically tussle over the print-out they're reading from -- teal explains that there is no such thing as "emotionally demanding." If your partner tells you you're emotionally demanding it's because your parents told you that at some point. You need to acknowledge your own needs so that you can line up with a partner who will meet them.

Sarbdeep looks like he's been socked in the gut.

This just gets crazier and crazier. Your needs and your partner's needs should always be in sync. If he wants to go out with his  friends and you have abandonment issues because of your childhood -- like say, you were left naked in a pit for hours by a Mormon Satanist -- and you can't stand for him to leave, you need to find a "third way" that allows for both of your needs to be met. What that might be, she does not say. But, somehow, you've gotta get on the same page, or you need to be with someone else, because teal does not "believe in compromise." So that third way, apparently, involves no compromise. It's all gotta be upside, or that relationship is over. (I have a sneaking suspicion that the people around teal do an awful lot of compromising.)

Sarbdeep thinks it's a little harsh to just end relationships because there are problems and challenges.

After the break, at about the 2:34:00 mark teal says they need to revisit the idea of relationships and whether or not to break up. Sarbdeep starts pulling furiously at his naked ring finger.

At around the 3:00:00 mark, teal takes up a question about, God help me, suicide. Some poor woman is trying to help her suicidal daughter. How can she help her "close the gap?" Well, says teal, she intends to do more videos on depression on suicide which should help, but she's pretty sure she's already done a couple that address it. She thinks she's done one for the sufferer and one for people who want to help them. She asks Blake. He can only think of one, that one where she discusses whether or not people who kill themselves are going to hell.

That of course would be the video discussed here, wherein teal explains that suicide is like hitting a "reset button" and how the bereaved shouldn't feel guilty over how relieved they are by their loved one's suicide because the depressed and suicidal are such downers. This was the video she did six days after her client killed herself, having been told by teal that she needed to decide whether or not she could commit to life. Apparently she could not. According to that video, and the Abraham-Hicks material from which it was plagiarized, suicide is the most effective way to "close the gap." My advice to this woman, not that she's interested in what I have to say, is don't let your daughter anywhere near this video. In fact, don't let her anywhere near any of teal's material that even touches on suicide. She's been known to say things like, "That's why it feels so good to die." (Scroll up to Scooby Doo noncast.)

Toward the end, teal takes up the question of a lipoma sufferer. According to teal, it all comes down to how toxic she is and informs her that she needs a really aggressive liver cleansing program. If you want to see what she had to say, all you really need to do is put lipoma + liver flush into google. Again, teal had all the questions in advance. It's also obvious that she was very forcefully and dogmatically giving medical advice without a license.

  115. Noncast: Drunks, Cult Leaders, and Duping Delight pt1

As in the recent Online Workshop (see above), neither teal nor Sarbs are wearing wedding rings in this latest teacast. I poked around a bit. In most of these tea things, they've both worn them. There are couple of random episodes in which he didn't, but she's been waving that rock around pretty consistently until the last couple of teacasts. So, again, I don't want to make too much of it. There could be reasons other than marital strife. But I gotta say, things seem a bit chilly -- as she sits in front of her cold hearth, wearing a parka. Not even two minutes in, Sarbdeep looks bored, frustrated, and dissatisfied with her answers to his banal questions.

Spirit guides are the topic of tea and of a really strange new blog entry. Sarbdeep would like teal to explain the basics, in basic terms, but as we know, teal never explains things simply. Maybe that's why she closes so many sentences with the word "basically" -- to make us think she's giving clear, grounded answers. It's kind of like the way she closes the most abstract, convoluted, internally contradictory monologues with phrases like "a hundred percent!" and "super-important!"

By minute three, it's already taken a really weird turn. How long have we humans known that we have these spirit guides? For as long as we've been aware of the fourth dimension -- except that we didn't know that we knew about the fourth dimension. Confused yet? Well strap in. Back then, people thought that God was separate, explains teal. And he sent "mercenaries."

"Mercenaries?!" says a startled looking Sarbdeep. That woke him up.

"Does she maybe mean emissaries?" ~ J

Maybe. Or maybe she means avenging angels? I don't know. But her explanation is all jacked up for reasons other than sounding very Judeo-Christian-centric. Once again, she's ignoring that indigenous cultures, and the ancient world in general, were rooted in conceptual oneness. That's very clear from the mathematics, the iconography, and very ancient scriptures like the Vedas.

The awareness of the spirit world also appears to reach into deepest antiquity. In Supernatural: Meetings with the Ancient Teachers of Mankind, Graham Hancock makes a very strong case that prehistoric cave paintings were expressions of shamanic experience and that the sudden birth of consciousness is tied to early man's discovery of what lies behind the veil.

"Less than fifty thousand years ago mankind had no art, no religion, no sophisticated symbolism, no innovative thinking. Then, in a dramatic and electrifying change, described by scientists as 'the greatest riddle in human history,' all the skills and qualities that we value most highly in ourselves appeared already fully formed, as though bestowed on us by hidden powers."

  116. Noncast: Drunks, Cult Leaders, and Duping Delight pt2

How did teal become aware of her spirit guides, Sarbdeep would like to know. Well, she's always seen them. She was born that way. She does not have the "interdimensional rift" that most people do.

Ooh! That sounded grandiose didn't it? She recovers with a sad attempt at some of that humility she doesn't believe in. It's a kind of "birth defect" like Downs Syndrome. Her brain is just different, not better.

Of course, children seeing other-dimensional beings is quite common, probably universal. Some people call them "imaginary friends." Most of us, particularly in industrialized societies, are acculturated out of it. But we can all recover these abilities. It's our birthright.

Once again, no matter how she tries to tone the arrogance down, teal is playing psychic, spiritual awareness as "specialness." She's not like most people. And she's not teaching people how to fish, either. It's all about her and her abnormal brain.

The body language in this teacast was interesting. At about 4:50, teal suddenly begins wiping something off her pants, after Sarbs asks her a challenging question about whether guides are dead people.

"Get off. Get away from me." ~ J

Then comes the classic teal deflection. "This is when it's really complicated..."

Not for the first time, my husband notes teal's "duping delight." At 8:46 she displays the giggle and creepy grin that we have seen so often. She laughs at inappropriate moments, like when she's talking about suicide. It's something many people have commented on, the creepiness of it. I suspect that the descriptor "giggling guide," coined by her crack marketing team, aka. Blake, is an attempt to spin her tendency to giggle and smile at shit that isn't funny. They're attempting to reframe a negative as a positive. Isn't it adorable the way teal laughs about death, destruction, and the long streams of abstruse nonsense that fall out of her mouth? She's like a cute, giddy teenager.

Duping delight is a term coined by psychologist and body language expert Paul Ekman. It's "the near irresistible thrill some people feel in taking a risk and getting away with it." Giggling, grinning, smirking, sometimes barely perceptibly, after throwing out some real whopper, are indicators of deception. Some people really enjoy the power that comes with manipulating people and can barely suppress their glee.

So, what was so hilarious this time? That she's just one of those very special people who came into this life with "huge amount" of guides. She's kind of like the Dalai Lama who has "thousands," according to teal. And the number of her guides keeps growing -- kind of like her "fame" I guess.

"You could whittle down this huge arsenal of people to a core nucleus, which we usually call the principal guides." ~ teal

"Wow. What a metaphorical word soup -- a slurry, really. It's like she threw the Urantia into a Vitamix." ~ J

Her language is very militant -- arsenals of guides, God sending mercenaries, army of fans. It's jarring and betrays a lot of anger and aggression.

Anyone who's read teal's argument with her former volunteer book editor and disenfranchised tealer (scroll up) or who witnessed her attacks on Fallon or Cameron can see that she loves a good fight. She fancies herself quite the verbal pugilist. This is a woman who has said, more than once, that she enjoys playing chess with people's minds. And she plays to win. As she wrote in her recent post on spirit guides.

"I feel like language fails me when I want to convey multi dimensional concepts. But I love the chess match of it. I love the feeling of playing the game of finding the perfect word to make a person understand. I call it the 'check mate'. Only in this game of chess, the loser is the one that wins because in the losing they gain understanding."

Yes, she wants to "make" people understand. That's impossible, by the way. Genuine understanding is an internal process. It can't be imposed. One can learn through reasoned debate, but this is only the beginning of new understanding. And no one who's seen teal argue could call it reasoned.

So, who are teal's "principal" guides? Turns out it's a lot of dead people, and in particular Sarbdeep's former teacher Stuart Wilde. She had never really heard of him before she met Sarbdeep, but Wilde has since informed her that he was instrumental in bringing these two lovebirds together.

I've posted before about the dubious nature of this once popular new age author who spent much of his later life as a cautionary tale. I learned years ago from a client that he had a major drinking problem. This gentleman, who had been huge fan of Wilde's work, did a workshop with the esteemed author. By the end, he and many other participants were demanding their money back, because Wilde had started out drunk and only gotten drunker. He was so soused he was literally sliding out of his chair. Needless to say, the workshop suffered.

One hopes that, now transitioned, he's in a better place on all levels. But there are risks inherent to taking on dead people as guides, as opposed higher consciousness, other-dimensional beings. When I look at teal's list of principal guides, I see that it's made up largely of dead people, one of whom she herself describes as not terribly "in alignment." He left, though, when Sarbdeep came along.

"I also lost a guide this year. I called him my black guide. He was with me since my birth. He was an african man with dreadlocks and a large top hat from New Orleans. He had an ebony black aura and he spoke like a Cajun. He returned to source consciousness the day that Sarbdeep and I were married in Santa Barbara. I have not seen him since. He was also a guardian guide. He was not the most 'in alignment guide'. Blake even had an unsavory encounter with him when we were in our early twenties. But he made me feel looked out for more than a few times in my childhood."

Yeah. Turns out the black guy also had a black aura and was "unsavory." I don't think she has any idea how racist she sounds.

I'm sure some dead drunk will be more "in alignment."

Actually, it's two dead drunks because she recently picked up another new guide in a parking lot: Gore Vidal. He also spent his later years in steep decline. Vidal was a sharp writer and social critic in his prime, but always a lightning rod for controversy. In death, allegations of sex with underage boys have called his credibility into serious question. Among the damning assertions: that his frequent trips to Bangkok were for sexual tourism and its traffic in underage prostitutes, that his arch-nemesis William F. Buckley was blackmailing him with a file on his exploitation of underage boys, that he dismissed victims of priestly abuse as "hustlers who were sending signals," and that he once announced in front of a startled house guest, "You know I'm a pederast."

While those assertions by friends and family cannot be independently verified, some of his public record is rather chilling. His belated life partner, with whom he claimed to have had an asexual relationship, was "attracted to adolescent boys," according to Vidal's own memoir Palimpsest. And in a 2009 interview with The Atlantic, in a comment strikingly reminiscent of his alleged take on the priestly abuse scandal, he gaffed off Roman Polanski's rape conviction by defaming the 13 year old victim.

"I really don’t give a fuck. Look, am I going to sit and weep every time a young hooker feels as though she’s been taken advantage of?"

Am I alone in finding something a trifle odd about a supposed survivor of ritual abuse wanting a spirit guide who was a rape apologist and likely child molester?

Well, he was a damn good writer. So was Wilde. And teal's new ambition, we learn over tea, is to start writing novels.

"I expect they'll be much, much worse than even Myra Breckenridge." ~ J

Now, teal could certainly do it all on her own by going "out of body" to see what the "collective consciousness" needs to know about, but Vidal's support will be appreciated, because her plate is pretty full.

Oh. And there it is again: that duping delight.

Most of her claimed short list of spirit guides are people we can't really know anything about, but those two have a documented history, and it's checkered. Now, certainly, when we shuffle off this mortal coil, we should be coming from a more expanded place, free from a lot of our earthly baggage, but these two don't strike me as terribly enlightened or advanced. Rounding out this rogues gallery, teal is expecting another new guide in the near future:

"I do not know when yet, Osho will be contacting me to take a place at my non physical table so to speak.  I am excited for this but also afraid for the way my own expansion will feel once he does.  Osho, has a reputation for his harsh teaching methods and unforgiving truth delivery."

Yeah. He also had a reputation for being a cult leader, tearing apart families, exploiting the fortunes of his followers, living in opulence, and collecting nearly a hundred Rolls Royces, while his followers lived, shall we say, modestly.

The fact that Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh is having his image rehabbed into a viable spiritual leader is horrifying to me. I can see why teal might like him, though. He was another Hitler apologist who claimed that the Jews were responsible for the Holocaust because they were Christ-killers and who, like the Nazis, believed in eugenics and in euthanizing "defective" children.

Not only was he a classic cult leader, there are reports of murder plots, biological terrorism, forced labor, and more.

"Hand-picked teams of Rajneeshees had executed the largest biological terrorism attack in U.S. history, poisoning at least 700 people. They ran the largest illegal wiretapping operation ever uncovered. And their immigration fraud to harbor foreigners remains unrivaled in scope. The revelations brought criminal charges, defections, global manhunts and prison time. But there was much more.

"Long-secret government files obtained by The Oregonian, and fresh interviews with ex-Rajneeshees and others now willing to talk, yield chilling insight into what went on inside Rancho Rajneesh a quarter-century ago.

"It's long been known they had marked Oregon's chief federal prosecutor for murder, but now it's clear the Rajneeshees also stalked the state attorney general, lining him up for death.

"They contaminated salad bars at numerous restaurants, but The Oregonian's examination reveals for the first time that they just as eagerly spread dangerous bacteria at a grocery store, a public building and a political rally.

"To strike at government authority, Rajneeshee leaders considered flying a bomb-laden plane into the county courthouse in The Dalles -- 16 years before al-Qaida used planes as weapons."

But, you know, there's no such thing as a false prophet. (page search: rabbit) Maybe if she's really lucky, she can get Jim Jones and Hitler as spirit guides next.

Sarbdeep apparently didn't want to discuss spirit guides in this teacast. They had a "little bit of a disagreement." Sarbdeep thought the subject was a little "space cadet."

Sarbdeep, who by the way, is still off Facebook, (see workshop discussion above) is beginning to worry about what his association with teal might look like to any potential employer.

"Am I gonna look a nutjob?"

Note to Sarbdeep: You're married to a woman who claims to be an Arcturian soul fork designed by an Arcturian panel to be pretty and white enough to matter in the world, who intends to to buy countries, who claims suicide is just hitting a reset button... and you're worried about a discussion of spirit guides?!!

Not to worry, though, because teal understands his concerns. She knows how crazy all those OTHER new age people can sound.

"And it doesn't help that the majority of people in the new age community and the spiritual community don't understand these things that they're looking at and so it makes it sound even worse," says teal. "No I have an angel. My angel is this winged being and she loves me and her name is... ya know. It sounds ridiculous to me, too, and I'm in the business where I see them."

Note to the spiritual community: TEAL thinks most of you sound like total nutjobs and your knowledge of all things metaphysical is all jacked up.

She doesn't like the "silliness" any more than Sarbdeep does. She has some pity for them, though. They're suffering and scared and need something to hold onto. If they think they have a relationship with the Archangel Michael, it's only because of their need for "significance." I'm still trying to figure out at what point "significance" went from being one of our two primary emotional needs, to being so... kind of... pathetic.

The sane, rational, not pathetic or nutjobby teal, would have you know that when she dies, she's going to be a spirit guide, herself. She's not coming back. Her work as an Arcturian earthling experiment is over. She will probably pick someone before she dies to be her "successor" and guidee.

"Let the squabbling begin." ~ J

It's only because she cares about Earth so much that she wants to ensure her legacy through her active assistance from beyond the grave.

  122. Back from my Teal Break...and what do I see?
Cowbag is flooding the world of writing with helpful-looking but deeply ill seeded guidance and marketing strategies.

"Growing up in a tranquil wilderness, Teal Swan had a childhood that was anything but serene, attracting undue attention because of her unusually powerful extrasensory abilities. At the hands of a local cult leader, Teal barely survived 13 years of horrendous abuse. After her escape, she felt powerless, lost and unable to cope. Gradually, Teal emerged from the darkness and into the dawn of profound self-love. In Shadows Before Dawn, she shows how you too can find radical self-acceptance and feelings of worthiness that may have been missing from your life.

Offering a comprehensive self-love toolkit, this book lets you pick and choose which of her techniques are right for you and learn step-by-step how to heal from even the deepest levels of suffering. Every chapter includes powerful exercises, insights and perspective from this captivating new voice in spirituality. With a raw intensity, Teal's words stay with you long after you've put the book down, and show you the way to complete self-love."

Let's take a little walk down memory lane.

Two noncasts ago, scroll up the page to Scooby Doo: "And teal was wearing the blue parka again. What's up with that? Is it that cold in her house? Maybe there should be an actual fire in the fireplace?"

In the last noncast, scroll up to Duping Delight, I wrote: "But I gotta say, things seem a bit chilly -- as she sits in front of her cold hearth, wearing a parka."

In teal's recent blog post she wrote: "Today is the third day of a snowstorm that has been gracing the Wasatch Range.  My heater doesn’t work and with no one available to fix it, our lives now revolve around the fireplace.  I am sitting in front of it now, watching the violent orange flames racing up into the air.  The constant crackle of the firewood is soothing to me."

Let's ignore, for the moment, graceful storms and the soothing nature of violent racing. I'm almost used to the discordant nature of teal's thought process, the constant juxtaposition of pleasant atmospherics with darkness and depravity. My husband and I were very excited at the prospect of seeing the first ever teacast in front of a crackling fire. But as ever,  the teacast proved disappointing. Not only is there obviously no fire in the fireplace of teal's freezing house, great pains have been taken to obscure that fact. The result is risible -- two people shivering in their coats, catty-cornered from what we all know is a fireplace.

It doesn't help that teal's marketing has taken that weird blue turn discussed in the Works Blue noncast above. Who thought this was a good idea? It only makes a cold woman seem colder. So while they've toned down the blue filtered look in the teacasts, there's still a cool blue hue that underscores the palpable chill.

According to another new blog post, that elusive fire is crackling away again: "The Nostalgia is palpable in the house tonight.  The fire was crackling, adding cozy notes to the Christmas music playing in the background.  Songs that have been retired for a year danced through the room.  The familiar notes of them pulling a beautiful ache of sentiment from my heart.  We assembled the Christmas tree and the lights were switched on.  Multi colored, radiant dots, climbing up the tree.  They twinkle as you walk around the tree."

The post includes a snapshot of their freshly assembled fake tree. Notably missing: a picture of that fire. And, yes, most of that quote I included just because I'm mystified by the sordid collection of mixed metaphors, poorly rendered imagery, random capitalization, and just plain bad writing.

Our recommendation: If you're going to watch this tea thing, follow it up with a fireplace video, such as this one. Or take breaks, if you need to, and toggle back and forth between teal's icy, blue room and the fireplace video of your choosing.

Once again, we note that there are no wedding rings in evidence. In fairness, when it's that cold, you don't really want metal against your skin.

  124. Noncast: Brrrrrrrrr.... pt 2

This teacast has one of the worst titles yet: "How to know the cause of illness."

How to know? Not how to determine, how to learn, how to discern, how to assess...

To know something is an end state, not a process. In truth, there's not much we do know with any certainty. To paraphrase Socrates, "I know that I know nothing."

But this is always my issue with teal. I'd have a much easier time accepting her sometimes stupefying ignorance and wrongheadedness if she weren't so bloody certain about it all. There's no crime in being mistaken about things and correcting yourself as you go along. That's what learning is and the best teachers are eternal students. The dogmatism, the certitude, the "universal perspective," this woman claims is what consistently drives me bonkers.

If you're looking for information about thoughts and feelings as causes of illness and adversity, skip this teacast and read Louis Hay's You Can Heal Your Life. It's also limited, simplistic, and naive, but at least it's not so damnably arrogant. At least Hay acknowledges that there are no absolute answers.

Chapter 15 in my copy of Hay's book introduces "The List" with advice on how to use it.

"Look up the mental cause. See if this could be true for you. If not, sit quietly and ask yourself, 'What could be the thoughts in me that created this?'" [emphases added]

You'd think that when teal was... um... independently arriving at the same information that Hay did, she might have picked up on that very-important caveat. Nope.

Other than that kooky idea that people are different and that causes and situations vary, that people should listen to their own inner wisdom to determine what is true for them, teal's list that she wrote all by herself is virtually identical to Hay's, with two peculiar exceptions.

According to teal, muscle and uterine cramps are "a holding or a stopping" and "quite often what we watch is that cramping is a stopping of a process."

Says Louise Hay on cramps, in general, "Tension. Fear. Gripping, holding on." And on abdominal cramps specifically, "Fear. Stopping the process."

As per teal, shoulder pain equals "burden."

Says Louise Hay, "Shoulders are meant to carry joy, not burdens."

Something weird happens when she gets to neck pain. She says it correlates to the expression "pain in the neck" and that people who get neck pain are "resentful."

People get neck pain because of an idiom? Or is she saying that the idiom is a result of resentful people getting frequent neck pain? Not everyone who uses the expression "pain in the neck" has neck problems and vice versa. In fact, I'd be willing to bet that it's not even a common correlate.

    - to be cont -

    ReplyDelete
  125. Noncast: Brrrrrrrrr.... pt 3

Hearing teal vamp on this theme, when Sarbdeep challenges her about what the expression "pain in the ass" causes, is worth the price of admission. But I looked this up. The phrase "pain in the neck" is a variant of the older expression "pain in the ass/arse" -- one that could be used in polite society. It has only been in use for a little over a century. So, presumably, people who had neck pain prior to 1900 did so for other reasons. (???) And what about people of other cultures? Both phrases are of decidedly Anglo origin.

This seems to be a departure from her thesis that the correlations between the causes and the problems are "literal" and "obvious." But as per teal, "That's why people have an issue with metaphysical explanations to illnesses. 'Cause it seems so obvious."

This one does not seem obvious. It's also a departure from Hay, who says that the neck represents "flexibility" and that neck problems are caused by, "Refusing to see other sides of the question. Stubbornness, inflexibility."

This attribute of inflexibility, teal correlates to the next item on her list, joint problems.

Louise Hay says that joints "Represent changes in direction in life and the ease of these movements."

Sarbdeep wonders if increasing joint flexibility through practices like yoga would also make one's thinking more flexible. Certainly, says teal.

Sure, because you just don't come across dogmatic and rigid yogis. Choudhury Bikram, for instance, is a real charmer who, in addition to sexually assaulting a number of women, is so bigoted against so many groups of people that one student felt it necessary to list and categorize them all in order to keep track.

Kripalu's guru Amrit Desai, whose hypocrisy was exposed in an avalanche of infidelity and sexual assault claims, was so rigid regarding sexuality that unmarried men and women were almost entirely segregated -- even in the dining hall, as I learned to my great confusion when staying at the Massachusetts ashram.

"Classical ballet teachers: also known for their easy-going manner... I can't walk three feet without tripping over things that disprove her ideas." ~ J

After this departure from both her prepared text and Louise Hay's definitions, teal refers again to her notes and claims that asthma is caused by "feeling stifled."

Says Louise Hay, "Smother love. Inability to breathe for one's self. Feeling stifled. Suppressed crying."

So, teal's formulation is at least as simplistic as Hay's, if more dogmatic. It is based entirely on the mind-body connection, something which teal does not acknowledge that medical science has long acknowledged (see: placebo effect, hypochondria, hysterical pregnancy, etc.).

Sarbdeep raises some of the more obvious questions. If all illnesses are caused by things that happen in childhood, what about children's illnesses and birth defects?

At this point teal begins to wax on about all the many lives these children have had and that they may have chosen these things as lessons.... as if she hasn't said countless times that nothing is ever about past lives, but only about what happens to us from ages 0 to 8.

Then she moves into more predictable teal territory: blaming mothers.

"Sorry to throw you under the bus, moms." ~ teal

    Sure you are.

As per teal, the unborn are "baking" and "marinating" in their mothers' issues. So yes, mothers, if your children have birth defects or illnesses, it's your fault.

Think teal has an issue with her mother? Well, she does have an issue with her own femininity, which she says is an expression of mother issues. We know she has this problem because she says so, explaining that her right ovary is pinned under her uterus due to her endometriosis. Why would being at odds with her own femininity cause a problem to manifest on her right side? Because the right side is masculine and the left side is feminine. (???) Both she and Sarbdeep seem to be completely oblivious to the fact that she's totally contradicted herself.

In fairness, Chinese medicine actually makes the right side feminine and the left side masculine. That configuration runs deep in Chinese cultural history. But teal is correct that in most holistic healing paradigms, left is feminine and right is masculine. For instance, Louise Hay teaches it that way.

    Maybe teal's ovaries are Chinese?

Or maybe, just maybe, there are no simplistic, pat answers when it comes to the nonphysical precursors to illness.

All in all, this is another in a series of very lackluster outings. Once again, Sarbdeep looks less than enthusiastic about being there. As per teal, he's just not that into it.

At many points he looks like he's stifling a yawn and struggling to stay engaged.

He's not terribly cooperative with teal's attempts to involve him in the topic, as she does early on by inducing him to think about bad things so that he can feel what happens in his body -- now there's an uplifting exercise -- and then by pressuring him to start rooting through his subconscious for shadow aspects. Turns out Sarbdeep's aggression was not supported in his youth... which they then correlate to not a single physical problem that he may be experiencing -- not even the cold that he is so obviously getting.

He then completely drags teal off-script by talking in purely pragmatic terms about how a mind distracted by all these issues could make a person careless and cause accidents. While true this has nothing to do with how thoughts and beliefs literally translate into illness and injury. So teal gently drags him back on point.

There's no real drama or conflict, as there has been in past teacasts, but no enthusiasm either. Sarbdeep is phoning it in and teal is putting a brave face on it. For the past three of these teacasts, and the online workshop, he has looked disengaged and like he'd rather be just about anywhere else. There's no real conflict but there's no effusive praise for her ideas either. He's amiable but not so codependent and supplicating as he has in the past.

As we move into teal's inversion in the last five minutes or so, teal is pretty much talking to herself, as Sarbs nods vacantly.

"Now we gotta go with this idea which is accurate..." says teal. It's always nice when you can agree with yourself. What is this accurate idea? That we manifest everything out of some "positive intention."

For instance, a person may manifest chronic illness and just not get better because they're afraid of being alone. Illness and injury is a good way to get attention in a crowded, chaotic home environment.

    Uuuhhh...

You mean like an admitted monophobe who lives with her husband, her ex-husband, her ex-boyfriend, her son, and the rest of her "intentional community" and who can't even plug in her own appliances?

We find it interesting that in the midst of fully endorsing her own ideas without a trace of self-awareness, something goes very wrong with the audio track that creates a fore-echo of everything teal says. She is literally talking to herself.

I guess that validates her idea of the subconscious becoming manifest in the physical world. We're pretty sure that this is what Sarbs hears in his head most of the time.

The problem clears when Sarbdeep reasserts himself and actually starts monologuing. This gives rise to one of the funnier bits of cabaret we've seen in one of these things, when teal, who has long since placed her own mug off camera somewhere and forgotten about it, grabs Sarbdeep's mug off the frog's tray by mistake. It must contain some of that tea she hates because she looks disgusted. But what's a girl to do? Sarbdeep is openly pontificating like someone who's allowed to and she's got nothing to do with hands, so she chokes down another sip of the vile brew. When she's finally regains the microphone, she hides the cup on the floor somewhere instead of putting it back on the frog's empty tray.

If you doubt that teal's "positive intention" is to live in an echo chamber of her own ideas, take a look at the aforementioned blog post "Disharmony." It seems that teal did an interview with the Christian Raw Brahs. She was relieved that it didn't result in "hate mail" as her previous attempts to talk to Christians have. Her contempt for most religions, but particularly Christianity and Mormonism, has been fairly well established. I haven't listened to the interview, but it sounds like they found common ground and it did not become divisive. She doesn't like it when people disagree with her.

  128. Noncast: Brrrrrrrrr.... pt 6

"In truth it is difficult for me to feel good about opposing truths. I desire so much for a meeting of minds between all beings. I want this because I love the feeling of harmony and understanding and also complete unity and oneness. But a shadow I discovered is that when I am confronted with a person who invalidates my ideas by contradicting me, it causes a feeling to arise within me that I had as a child of being 'pushed away'. It is not a uniting energy. This makes me feel ostracized, which awakens my wound of 'something is wrong with me'. This wound is common amongst those who wish to have everyone agree. I also struggle with the knowledge that if two people’s opinions differ enough and they are put in a position where their beliefs threaten each other’s needs, they will turn against each other. We have seen this with every religious war that has happened on our planet. Being completely honest, when people’s beliefs conflict with my own, a part of me is always 'watching my back', expecting them to turn against me in some painful way at a moments notice. Another holdover from growing up non Mormon in a Mormon town."

Ah yes, the myth of the religiously motivated war. There have been next to none.

As I've noted repeatedly, teal does not "get" oneness. And, yes, I acknowledge that it's a challenging concept, but mystical oneness has nothing whatsoever to do with sameness or conformity. Once again, she is conflating oneness with the solipsistic world view that expressed itself so chillingly in what I can only call her Malkovichian Enlightenment. (Malkovich. Malkovich. Malkovich. Malkovich. Malkovich...) Christ but she is in love with her own image... and her own "accurate" ideas. But, good for her that she is admitting to herself and the world what has long been so painfully apparent. She does not like being contradicted.

The rest of that post is just cut and pasted from an older Ask Teal episode, which I discussed in the noncast called The Bottomless Rabbit Hole. That she's trotting that out again does not exactly fill me with confidence that she will be growing any more tolerant of dissent or that she'll stop playing "chess" with people's minds any time soon.

  133. Has anyone heard about this yet?

Jessica Schab: An individual known for promoting slanderous anti-teal material, has active charges filed against her.

Gus Mouskos, someone who has also been subjected to the same treatment as Teal, has recently filed numerous charges against Jessica Schab and is asking others, who may have been abused by her as well to also take action.

Here is a quote from the website linked below:

"If you have experienced any sort of libelous abuse by Jessica Schab and her accomplices or anybody for these matters, I recommend you contact your local court house and file a complaint. Your silence is your acceptance to abuse. Speak up and be bold so that all may hear, other wise this will not stop!"

In the link posted, the court documents and charges are listed for anyone who would like to look into it.

A CIA internal investigation has cleared the organization of criminal wrong-doing in it's unauthorized cyber-snooping of Senate Intelligence Committee. In other news, teal has cleared herself of leading a cult. Coincidentally, she used one of the sources cited in my blog post above. Funnily, she came to different conclusions than I did.

As per teal, the term cult is "super controversial." It's funny because it's not true at all. I have noticed, though, that there's a lot of quibbling over the semantics by groups that have been called cults -- James Ray International, for instance. People in such groups are also notoriously bad at recognizing that they have been brainwashed in any way and remain convinced that they are acting of their own free will, as the members of Heaven's Gate did right before they all killed themselves. In modern usage, the term generally, but not always, applies to mind control cults. Sometimes it's used to marginalize groups for having "weird" beliefs and there is occasional conflation of those definitions, partly because a lot of mind control cults also have idiosyncratic beliefs. But, when we're talking about the kind of checklist that teal has used to exonerate herself, we're talking about issues of mind-control. And teal insists that there isn't any.

The tealsplanation is that her followers are encouraged to question and doubt, which probably sounds a little strange to the many people who were banned from Teal Tribe for raising questions and having doubts. It no doubt sounds most peculiar to those who have been disturbed by Sarbdeep's oft-repeated, Stalinesque phrase "Ban + Delete = Problem solved." Did I mention that the cornerstone of mind-control studies, Robert J. Lifton's Thought Reform and the Psychology of Totalism, is not about a religion at all, but about Communist China? I'm also wondering why the header on this post depicts something that looks suspiciously like a fascist salute.

There's no guilt or peer pressure on Teal Tribe, either, according to its eponymous leader.

"I see the tribe as a healing and support oriented group.  As such, I do not see how inducing shame and guilt could play any part in healing and I do not believe that anyone in Teal Tribe would succumb to or participate in peer pressure.  And if they did, other members would call them on it.  Guilt and shame are not tools used in an authenticity movement (which is what this spiritual movement is) because they discourage authenticity."

Someone might want to mention that to admin and Teal Tribe enforcer of societal norms Yona Curtis, who recently berated a member for her open fury against teal critics Jessica Schab and Diego Fontanive. That the subject was actually raised by John Wangsgaard and Sarbdeep Swan just makes it all the more bizarre, but there you go. Yona would have it be known that there is "zero tolerance" for anything "anti Teal" and that members should be devoting their energy  to "loving Teal and seeing her succeeded instead." [sic] So, that's not cultish at all.

I noted a while ago the hectoring comment of a triber who wanted more than a measly 8 of 9,000 members to testify to how many teal videos they'd watched, "to show your dedication to Teal Tribe's founder."

The thought-policing and calls for dedication on Teal Tribe are continuous and escalate at the barest whiff of "anti-teal" sentiment.

She does concede that she thinks her followers are very special and that her "inborn spiritual abilities" qualify her for a "mission" to help the world, but teal doesn't think she's a world savior or anything. Notably, the descriptor of her as a "Eucharist" has been scrubbed from her website, if not from the web.

It's also a little hard to reconcile that apparent restraint with her insistence that every facet of society is so irreparably broken that she will need to buy up entire countries and restructure them according to her world view.

As I said above, I don't think teal's organization is a cult. I think it has numerous cultish elements. As I said here, though, I find it very interesting that two former insiders have both described it as a cult and claimed to have been subjected to many brainwashing techniques.

As per teal, a number of her followers have informed her "that their family and friends are flipping out about their involvement with myself or the group because they think it is a cult."

I know this is the case because I hear from the family and friends. People are concerned about the increasing disconnect between "tealers" and their friends, parents, and abandoned spouses.

What has any of that to do with the recent teacast featuring raw food chef Omar Abou Ismail? Absolutely nothing, but that one is so dull, there's not much to say about it.

Ismail's food looks good and Rawtopia looks like a place worth visiting if one has to be in Utah. One word of advice: Don't ask for the long version of his life story unless you have a lot of time on your hands.

Their discussion is replete with many of the same sort of specious nutritional claims they made in their episode on vegetarianism. It's worth the price of admission just to see teal's face freeze into the same rictus grin it did in the episode with the holistic doctors, when Ismail defended the consumption of meat in the conscious practices of indigenous peoples.

It was also hilarious to hear teal talk about how she had to consult the Akashic record to learn why people ever started cooking their food. Apparently, ancient man was cold and, having discovered fire, thought it might be interesting to cook their food as well as thaw it. I say it was hilarious because teal was practically giddy as she relayed her discoveries. More of that duping delight, methinks. Particularly humorous is her description of ancient Europe where "ironically, heat was like a novelty."

Apparently the "wealthy" paleolithic people in Northern Europe indulged in this crazy, new fire fad. Before long, the hoi polloi in their lesser cave dwellings wanted it, too. You know how that goes.

"Everyone was so bored they took up struggling to survive to pass the time." ~ J

It's funny the way her trips through the Akasha are so at odds with archaeological, historical, and scientific evidence.

Her recent post on beauty is similarly entertaining. And I'm not just talking about her oft-repeated and stunningly arrogant claim that extra weight is ALWAYS about "fear." Well, except for women in those cultures where fat is prized. There, it's a little different, says teal. But since fat is seen as unattractive to pretty much everyone in the civilized world, teal explains the reasons as fearfulness and its attendant unhealth.

One problem: Disdain for fat is far from universal, even in the first world. In many studies, men have been found to be more attracted to ample figures, even venturing into obesity, and to not be attracted to extreme thinness, particularly in a life mate. A recent study, for instance, found that men who are stressed are, hands down, more attracted to heavier women. The waist to hip ratio, is universally more important than size. Women in huge numbers, prefer heavier men as well.

We really didn't know what was more disturbing about this post:

The naked vanity: "And when I was modeling, I found that the women and men who are hired specifically because they are considered to be the standard model of physical perfection..."

The self-justification for that vanity: "Narcissists are not people who love themselves; they are people who cannot currently connect with others."

Or the mind-melting ignorance about basic physics: "The plane is swaying up and down and side to side in the clear blue of the sky.  The rows of heads in front of me sway opposite the movements of the plane, subconsciously trying to find equilibrium."

Yeah. That's the one. We have a winner!!

"A body in motion subconsciously tries to stay in motion." ~ J

But don't get me wrong, I'm not here to defend LaVaughn, I'm here to do some name calling of my own... Irina, you are an angry, misguided fool and if I were you I would take some windex to that mirror of yours, it is apparently distorting your perspective.

I know you as one of the hard core tealers and teal huggers . I do understand why you go around an attack in the name of protection of holy Teal. I do understand. Your heart is full of love for this woman and her "tribe" and her "mission". I was there too but never hugged her. One day this bubble might burst.... enjoy as long as it lasts. I apologize for calling your friend Teal a cowbag. I should have called her "THE parasite of Tealtribe". As far as i am concerned I see teal tribe as a bunch of genuine, loving and searching people gathered around a smart and charismatic story teller. They are promoting her fairy tale books and enjoy being a character in this story and think they have life figured out by following a walking, sexy library . I get it. Nothing wrong with it but painful to watch if not lost in the story.

  147. Step 310: Teal is getting ready to enter Hollywood. To prep for this, she uploads a new video with a very gentle and pleasing understanding of Pedophiles TO AND FOR pedophiles...considering that Hollywood is full with pedophiles and it will be very likely that they will be her next target.

Teal in fact explains the root of all world problem with abuse at young age. Even the whale hunters were abused as children and couldn't live their innocence....so they go and kill these innocent, rare beauties. And ALWAYS: great news: Teal can cure them all. Doesn't matter if pedophile or murderer or any kind of monster. Teal is the answer.

(I acutally was surprised that she didn't come up with the following explanation of the new age about rapist & pedophiles which goes like this: you were in a love realitionship in your last life with your current rapist. he simply recognized you and that's why he raped you : child, woman, doesn't matter. I really heard this explanation few times and the raped new age women felt suddenly very relieved and giggled - can you believe this???? Teal obviously didn't dive hard enough into the google monster to find this unique, messed up approach)

  149. OK I found an article on her website in which she did address Ted Bundy. Here's some quotes:

Thought: Ted Bundy was a terrible person.

Question: Can I be absolutely 100% sure that is true?
Reverse statement: Ted Bundy wasn’t a bad person Or Ted Bundy is a good person.

    1. Just because someone takes a bad action doesn’t mean the whole person bad. The action is bad. The person behind the action is like the universe… benevolent.

    2. No baby is born wanting to kill someone. Babies are all born, like the universe… benevolent. His suffering created the conditions of what he did so he is not a bad person as much as he is suffering. And we all know suffering creates more suffering.

    3. When Ted Bundy was thirteen years old, he discovered “dirty magazines” in a dump near his home. He was instantly captivated by them. In time, Bundy became more and more addicted to violent images in magazines and videos. His brain became addicted to seeing women being tortured and murdered. When his brain could no longer get a high off of the sensation of looking at images… His addiction created a biochemical urge to graduate the violent scenes from being fantasy to creating them in reality. He was the victim of his own addiction, an addiction which was not publicized at the time he was alive and an addiction which there was little help for.

    4. Ted Bundy specifically granted an interview with James C. Dobson the day before his execution. He explained that felt he owed it to society to warn of the dangers of hard-core pornography and to explain how it had led him to murder so many innocent women and girls. He explained that while he took full responsibility for his actions and did not blame pornography for his actions, his craze to kill was always inflamed by violent pornography and his inhibitions were removed by abusing alcohol. Because of this honesty in his final hours, the dangers of pornography addiction were brought into the limelight for the world to see. He is now therefore responsible in part for potentially saving many, many lives because society became aware of this addiction and started learning about it and now there is so much more help for people who suffer from pornography addiction today. So in a round about way, he ended up helping the world.

    ReplyDelete
  150. 5. Ted Bundy went on record as saying “I hope that those who I have caused so much grief, even if they don’t believe my expression of sorrow, will believe what I’m saying now; there are those loose in their towns and communities, like me, whose dangerous impulses are being fueled, day in and day out, by violence in the media in its various forms - particularly sexualized violence. What scares me is when I see what’s on cable T.V. Some of the violence in the movies that come into homes today is stuff they wouldn’t show in X-rated adult theatres 30 years ago. That (in reference to slasher movies) is the most graphic violence on screen, especially when children are unattended or unaware that they could be a Ted Bundy; that they could have a predisposition to that kind of behavior. There are forces at loose in this country, especially this kind of violent pornography, where, on one hand, well-meaning people will condemn the behavior of a Ted Bundy while they’re walking past a magazine rack full of the very kinds of things that send young kids down the road to being Ted Bundys. That’s the irony”. Potentially enough of these circumstances where in society clearly sees the link between violence in virtual entertainment and violence in reality, will lead to a society which instead used virtual entertainment to fuel a peaceful reality. If this is the case, Ted Bundy and his victims were co creators of a future that is good.

    6. Ted Bundy felt very powerless and empty in general which meant that moving from that space into violent actions where he dominated his victims felt like relief to him. What that means is the entire reason for doing what he did came from one desire… to feel better. He wanted, like all of us to be happy. And while he was “wrong” about what would ultimately cause him to feel better, one can not say that the motivation at the deepest root of all of his crimes (to feel relief) was a bad motivation. It is the same motivation all of us have.

Yeah right. So Ted Bundy actually helped the world. He and his victims were co creators of a better future. Now I'm not surprised she said Hitler actually helped promote world peace. Though I've never seen it myself. What kind of woman in her twisted mind could come up with claims like that? She does seem to have a special love for psychopaths/sociopaths.

  153. My sincerest condolences to every Tealer.

Fang He: For Socio/Psychopath the "law of attraction", "Turn it around game" and "I create my reality" is a true cockaigne as it enables them to get rid of any evidence of their own incorrect behavior in the minds of their victims as long as the victim (a person who is deceived or cheated, as by his or her own emotions or ignorance, by the dishonesty of others, or by some impersonal agency) accepts the suggestion of word & self view. YES VICTIMS - the non-word of the new age's gods and goddesses who run the world and their realities - gosh they are so "self responsible". Perfect mind games to tangle even the most healthy thinking mind in it - at least for a while. An out of balance mind which is desperate for any kind of grip and unable to think clearly - PERFECT for Teals & co.

I was in it to - in fact...right in the middle of the centre of the centre. It is a fake peace because you tell yourself fucked up fairytales and others just run over you without it ever being noticed by you as your shades are too pink and you turn shit into gold (sorry for my language) . It does feel authentic .... for a while until one event changes all.

I forgot to mention: Teal had an additional trick up her sleezy sleeves :D - she knew that it will impossible to hide her messed up, fucked up, greedy, ignorant side to the public in the long run and sold it as a quality which she called "authenticity or honesty". "hey guys i am not perfect, like any other guru on this planet but i am the best, the most honest, the true leader as i tell you straight away how fucked up i can be." ....people applauded. The trick worked.

My sincerest condolences to every Tealer.

  154. She seems to work on the translation of the new Arcturianpedia, which will be published by Hay House in 2016 IF and only IF her new book brings in the mooooney (which it will)

if you search there for "murderer", "pedophiles" or "rapists" - you will see the same definition: "sb who chose parents which didn't fullfill the needs as a child and/or got abused at young age. They all have in common that they get reminded by their victims what they have missed in their childhood and therefore kill, fuck or rape their victims in order to be close to their inner, longing child which is mirrored by their chosen victims."

Something like this. I didn't fully study her explanation nor did I read her Bundy article. I just still wonder what her real agenda is. I am very drawn to her intellectual try to maintain, strengthen and transform her emotional relationship to her abuser(s) by overwriting the common perception of a criminal with the new age concept "turn murderer into angels" ... just by thinking. It certainly feels more comfortable as a victim.

btw: I was very amused by her newest mindcontrol blog (I should call her blogs "food for the zombies") when i read about her genetic analysis. First of all: what an exciting exciting xmas present this was :D. Second of all: what a smart, smart target audience bonding this was- considering that 80% of tealers are probably europeans. Teal, in case the whole spiritual catalyst thing doesn't work out, you would be amazing as a coach for new business founders. 156. Wow, I missed that in the teal apologetics project. So, basically, she's bought Bundy's self-defense to the letter. He was horribly victimized by porn -- boo hoo -- says the woman who founded TealEye to promote her own nudie pics.

Bundy was a psychopath, plain and simple. He was not made evil by looking at boobies. He liked to kill women and spend hours with their dead bodies. When he was in prison, he would ask for crime scene photos because he needed spanking material. He was a sexual sadist.

You know what's funny? Most men and a good number of women look at erotic and pornographic material. Only a very small percentage of them bludgeon people to death to get off. Ergo, this does not cause that. That doesn't even qualify as correlation.

Just so ludicrous, I just... oh my god...

Using Dobson, Focus on the Family loonytoon as a source. Christ on a Crutch.

  157. Ilostmyaccount: The reason many people follow her is because they have issues/problems in their lives and she said a lot of things to make them feel good, at least temporarily. There are also people who don't want their self-autonomy and desperately need her approval every step of the way. They need her there to validate their actions. Once someone posted on tealtribe to raise questions about her so-called past of satanic ritual abuse. How could she be abused while at the same time go to Beijing to learn healing skills, train for Olympics and do modeling? Then someone commented that they don't care if Teal is lying. They don't care if her story is true. They just need her to follow because she provides some sort of comfort.

A sovereign individual does not need her approval/validation. Only the childlike who cannot be self-responsible are willing to give up their sovereign souls into believing the lies she is telling.

  160. The current thinking on psychopathy, by the leading researchers, is that psychopaths are born, not made. Sociopathy can develop, but psychopathy is a brain abnormality. Robert Hare thinks it can be offset by really good upbringing, but they're still not going to have normal emotions.

The consensus is that Bundy was a psychopath. Like most psychopaths he was an incredible manipulator. One of his great manipulations was wooing religious fanatics, gaining their pity, and fueling the anti-porn movement within the religious right.

There is zero evidence that pornography creates any of these problems. It sure as hell never turned anyone into a serial killer. That people with existing problems also develop porn addictions, sure. But porn never turned anyone into a psychopath, because genetics did that. And porn never turned anyone into a sociopath, a malignant narcissist, or anything else. It's ridiculous.

There has been a lot of research into this question and it's been pounded flat.

See, everyone is seeking after their own happiness, so, no matter how many people are raped, maimed, or murdered, it's still actually positive. Ted Bundy was just trying to get off. He was just seeking his own pleasure, so his intentions were positive. See how that works? There. I have tealsplained it to you.

  175. Noncast: Deep Thoughts on the Holidays pt 1

Two of my larger problems with The Secret and similar LOA material are the shameless support of consumerism and the victim blame that ironically exonerates victimizers. Oh. And the simple-mindedness that makes the whole thing work. Every time!

Over the winter break, my husband and I endured two teal videos, the tea thing about Christmas and teal's solution to that pesky pedophilia problem. What a gift to humanity those Ask Teal videos are. Week after week, the cosmic answer lady can put everyone's minds at ease on major psychological and sociological problems in twenty, twenty-five minutes.

In the teacast, teal reduced Christmas to presents and Sarbdeep to a footnote.

It doesn't seem like Sarbdeep is entirely comfortable with Christmas simply as a gift-giving holiday, but he doesn't challenge her narrative in any noticeable way. Mostly, he looks bored. Just past a minute a half in, he's barely concealing an exasperated sigh.

Try looking at some of the earlier teacasts and compare them to the last few. He was much more engaged. He ranged between challenging her and fawning like a schoolboy, but he was present. Something changed around the time they did their Kambo cleanse. He's been phoning it in ever since. He's never been an equal in these things. It's always been the teal show, but at this point he could be replaced with any mediocre interviewer.

There has always been something odd about this dynamic -- the fact that teal is always lecturing and Sarbdeep just asks questions. This does not read like a conversation between two married people, or even friends. It's not a relationship dynamic. In fact in this one, she actually says, "Let's say you and I are in a relationship..."

    Let's say? They're married!

    So that was weird.

Worse, what follows is a blueprint for codependency. In this hypothetical relationship, says teal, in which one person loves Christmas and the other hates it -- and Sarbdeep is mystified by teal's excitement about this holiday -- one partner's happiness should make the other happy.

Right. Our feelings should be dictated and even over-ridden by our partner's feelings. That's healthy.

According to teal, happiness is our primary need. Fuck Maslow, man, with his hierarchy of values. Life is really about ephemeral emotional states. (Actually, our Western obsession with happiness is making us miserable.) And remember when the primary needs were "loving connection and significance?" That was so 2014.

"And by the way teal, I can prove you exactly wrong in under a minute. Let me take away your oxygen." ~ J

Sarbdeep also has concerns about our consumerist drive depleting the planet's resources. This makes teal grin for some reason. The problem isn't, so much, consumption. It's population. So this should drive the conspiracy set, who think teal is Illuminati, absolutely nuts -- put "depopulation agenda" into the google and see what happens.

Mostly, teal is talking in circles. It's not about overconsumption. It's about a lack of "conscious" consumption and connection with the earth. There's a difference?!

On the one hand teal is saying it's wrong to "impose" constraints on people consuming as they choose to. On the other she's saying the answer is that we all need to increase our sense of connection to the planet and become conscious about our consuming choices. So how do we go about that without reining in a level of consumption that is quite noticeably destroying ecosystems right now, today: oil depletion, oil spills, fracking and the attendant earthquakes and flammable tap-water, depletion of the rainforests, aka, the planet's lungs... These are not small problems and they will not abate at our current level of consumption.

See, according to that "universal perspective" that teal has but the rest of us don't, it's not even possible for a person to have a desire to consume and a desire to not deplete the planet and not have it all work. Because, you know all our thoughts have to manifest and stuff.

Sarbdeep nods, "okay." He does not look convinced at all. He changes the subject.

What about the origins of Christmas and it's being all about gifts?

We love when teal talks about history.

"Basically, way back when all, here's the thing, when it comes to the origin of St. Nick, you actually have a blend of multiple people who existed way, way back in the dark ages. These are people who are now, who now have sainthood, but they were real tangible people, St. Nick was a real tangible person who happened to have a penchant for helping the poor, so what used to, people used to, back in the day when you didn't have dryers, they used to hang their socks over the fireplace. Now the old story goes is that St. Nick would like, 'cause I mean back then it was not a good thing to feed the poor and stuff like that. That was not a charitable thing yet. So he, we're back in pagan days, so um, actually we might be a little bit beyond that, just trending on Christianity, so he's basically starts throwing like coins into the only entrance you could find 'cause you can't get in these houses, so if he knew there was a poor family, he would basically start throwing them through the chimney. And like some 'on occasion' the story goes that they used to fall into the socks. And so that was really what started the whole stocking trend and then you got like that, that idea that on days like 'festivity days'  you give to the poor, with that sort of turning into you gave to each other."

So, that's a lot to unpack. Calculating the physics of a coin going down a chimney and somehow ending up in a sock hanging over a fireplace, alone, could keep you busy longer than resolving pi.

"Wow, teal's inversion came early this year! It's like a Christmas miracle." ~ J

Impossible bouncing coins aside, this is not the myth of St. Nicholas, the Bishop of Myra. He did throw gold cold coins but it was into the house of one poor family so three daughters could have dowries and avoid a life of prostitution. He was also known to put coins in shoes the poor left out. He performed some miracles, hence his canonization as a saint. He was long commemorated with St. Nicholas Day on December 6th.

St. Nicholas became Sinterklaas as Christianity spread into Germanic Europe, where his legend most likely merged with the Nordic god Odin. Santa Claus is, indeed, a composite figure made up of ONE historical saint and a number of mythical figures. One of these borrowings, according to an increasingly popular theory, was from Siberian shamanism, where shamans and reindeer alike consume Amanita muscaria mushrooms and the shamans wear the red and white of these magic mushrooms. The shamanic overtones of a being who is not subject to the time and space rules of our dimension, flies, and spends his time with some kind of fae are kind of hard to miss.

According to teal, St. Nicholas was remarkable for giving to the poor because this just wasn't done. It wasn't considered charitable.

"What was charity? Beating the shit out of the poor?" ~ J

Of course giving alms to the poor is a very ancient tradition across many cultures and substantially predates Christianity, let alone St. Nicholas.

Once again, it is terrifying to consider that this woman who claims to speak for the "universal perspective" could increase her knowledge a hundred-fold by reading a Wikipedia page.

Any connection to the story of the three wise men bringing gifts to the baby Jesus? Sarbdeep would like to know.

"Not really, no. Because Jesus's birth had absolutely nothing to do with this holiday at all."

You heard it here first, kids. The birth of Christ had nothing to do with Christmas.

    What would Bill O'Reilly say?

What follows is the most hilarious explanation of the Christian co-optation of Pagan holidays ever, because, you see, "Ironically, Christianity made its birth place in Judaism..."

How is this ironic? It, um, isn't. Maybe someone could get teal a dictionary for one of these holidays? Gifts are her "love language."

According to teal, the Christian holidays are "fake" and were superimposed over the Pagan holidays, which were somehow more real.

I say this as a person far more inclined toward the Pagan underpinnings of Christmas: It's called CHRISTMAS!

For all her open contempt for Christianity, teal buys way more of the Christian narrative on this than I think she realizes. She gets that there was some retroactive retrofitting of the Christ story to make him the foretold "messiah," but credits the disciples with writing it that way. The disciples were most likely illiterate and didn't write the gospels named for them. They were written at least decades later, according to most scholars.

We should also clarify that Christ was not "born in a manger." In fairness, teal is hardly alone in making this error. She simply repeats it. As the story goes, he was born in a stable. A manger is a feeding trough -- as in mangia bene. He was placed in a manger after his birth.

"And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn." ~ Luke 2:7

As per teal, his lowly birth was a message to the lowest "throngs" of society that "magic could come from anywhere."

    Lowest... crowds... ???

"Does she mean rungs?" ~ J

Anyhoo, it's very odd to hear her speaking far more of the mythical Jesus Christ than the historical Yeshua.

According to teal, he wanted a "revolution" and "it happened." This is at odds with the scholarship on the topic. There is some small debate as to even his existence and religious historians have radically different takes on just who he was if he did exist. But let's go with Reza Aslan's take, because he's brilliant and because my husband recently read Zealot. By his accounting, Jesus of Nazareth was a revolutionary, indeed, but his revolution failed miserably. His intent to upturn the social order got him crucified, which was the punishment for crimes against the Roman Empire. If he'd been executed for heresy, he would have been stoned unto death.

There is a lot of debate regarding the historical Jesus and to a lesser degree, the mythical Jesus. As usual, my biggest problem teal's narrative is that she states her opinions, conjecture, and sometimes wildly distorted renditions of other people's writings, as facts. People who actually study religious history, and have degrees and stuff, are far more circumspect. So her attempt to set the record straight on Christ and his birth didn't.

Mostly, this came across as a sad attempt to justify the idea of Christmas as a day of holy commercialism. A gift is a "visual symbol of love," according to teal. A bad gift, she says "literally" means "I hate you."

    Wow.

Some of us would say that it's the thought that counts.

It's more of that polarized, borderline thinking. There really are no shades of grey with her are there?

"That's another reason why consumerism actually has value and why in today's modern world the ability to actually buy anything off the internet is AWESOME. Because think about this. Way back when when all you could do was basically make your gifts for other people, what was your guarantee that anybody even wanted that? I mean those of you who have gotten that like super crappy doll that your aunt made? Right, that was really well thought out. No. It was just what she could make. So, like the world has opened up to this like AWESOME reality where if you get to know somebody, you can find something they will like."

    Christ, she's shallow.

The secret to really enjoying Christmas, says teal, is to "wipe your slate completely clean." This is odd because at the beginning of this thing she says she enjoys Christmas so much because it's tied to some of her few happy memories of childhood.

She recommends imagining that you're an alien viewing the holiday season as if you've never seen it before. "This is a pretend game," says she.

Yeah, no one's alien but her. She's so special. The rest of us mere mortals should wipe our slates of Christmas memory and pretend we're aliens to enjoy Christmas. Only she get's to be a nostalgic Arcturian soul fork thing. The rest of us should scrap all our memories and completely recreate Christmas from scratch.

This seems like completely bizarre advice to us. So much of Christmas is about memory and family tradition. Unlike teal, we don't think so many people are terrified of changing it up to our liking.

I could see clearing the slate if someone has really painful associations with Christmas. It can be a really charged time of forced fun and awkward family gatherings. The holiday blues can be of particular concern if someone experienced a lot of childhood trauma or serious family dysfunction -- for instance, having been molested. So, we thought it was a little strange that teal would choose the holiday season to do an Ask Teal episode on pedophilia. Yeah, that couldn't trip anyone's wire.

    For the record, it did.

    On Teal Tribe.

A number of people started posting about their own molestation histories and some said they were really triggered by the video. At least one got a little lecture from teal. It starts here.

I know when I'm feeling really triggered and vulnerable, nothing warms the cockles of my heart like being mocked with little quotey things. So why "can't" this person watch a video on pedophilia? Why because they were molested, of course. (Due to the sensitive nature of the topic, I am redacting not only this person's identity but their explanatory comments as well.)

But this video could really "increase your vibration" on the issue, insists teal, before pulling rank. She's a survivor of far worse abuse, you know. And she would have the deeply depressed, holiday addled, hanging by a thread, abuse survivor know that this little video of hers "has the power to blast us into a level of understanding where the victimization fades away from our emotional content."

    Wow. That's some video.

We watched it. We think that might be overstating the value somewhat. We're not convinced, as Sarbdeep seems to be, that this is must viewing for both pedophiles and therapists "so that the cycle of abuse can be healed."

We're not convinced of that at all. In fact, we thought it was a lot of sophomoric drivel made up of unsourced, unproven assertions. How many pedophiles has teal cured, we'd like to know.

According to teal, pedophilia is the result of lost innocence and the key to its cure is in reclaiming that innocence. To do that? Shadow work, teal style. You know, dive straight into the pain.

It wouldn't be a teal video without erroneous claims and fallacious associations. For instance:

"We also become sexually attracted to our subconscious definition of intimacy. This is why it is so common for people who were sexually abused as children to go on to become perpetrators of sexual abuse."

Yeah... not really all that common. The vast majority of sex abuse survivors do not grow up to become pedophiles and the data remains unclear as to how many pedophiles were molested as children. The mythic "cycle of abuse" remains unproven.

    More troublesome, she pathologizes BDSM.

"As sad as it may seem, if the intimacy in our family is abusive, we often develop sexual fetishes that involve some level of abuse."

  181. Noncast: Deep Thoughts on the Holidays pt 7

She also manages to conflate homosexuality with pedophilia:

"We must suspend our idea about right versus wrong as we learn about pedophilia because it doesn’t actually address the root of the situation at hand. It is as useless to debate whether pedophilia as a sexual orientation is right or wrong as it is to debate whether being homosexual as a sexual orientation is right or wrong. It is an urge, not an action."

Mostly, teal offered a lot of generic platitudes on meditation and forming healthy boundaries. Much of this needed assistance, as it turns out, can be found in other of her Ask Teal videos, so that's handy.

The grandiosity displayed in this video is really staggering. Where psych professionals struggle to contain the problems associated with pedophilia -- finding that the causation is unclear and that, while it can be managed, it cannot be cured -- the self-proclaimed spiritual catalyst has it all figured out. So much so, that she thinks she's in a position to lecture therapists and abuse survivors alike.

  183. For the most part of this lifetime I have passionately hated my mother, Christianity, and cops. Then one day I found myself living across the street from my mother, in a small village of mormons and other christian type religionists, with a cop right next door. What a coincidence, hahahahaha! That was the day of my awakening, hehehe, and anybody who wants to sit around arguing whether or not a 'law of attraction' is at work in this universe is welcome to have at it till doomsday and beyond for all I care.

Then came teal, who is the essence of what I hated in my mother, in christians and in cops, all rolled into one, with some extra shit thrown in for good measure. But enough about teal, I wanna talk about me, hahahahaha! (The joke of course is that I already was talking about me :)))

My son got back from China on xmas eve. It was a big surprise, we hadn't expected him back till Jan or Feb. Not only that, he was married. My daughter was in on the surprise return, but she wasn't in on the marriage thing. She tried to sneak out of the house to go get him but the battery was dead on her car and so she had to come in to get my sister's keys to use her car.

She knew we would all know something was up if she was leaving the house to go somewhere on xmas eve so she acted all frantic about some present that wasn't going to be delivered on time that she had to go out and pick up. We all bought it without batting an eyelash, which should never have happened since my one sister (who was using his room while he was gone) kept having nightmares that he had come home unannounced to his room being a crazy mess with her stuff strewn from one end to the other). And my other sister had had a dream that she came out to the living room and he was standing there. She was so excited to see him but then realized there were no presents for him! As it turns out they both had their dreams realized xmas eve. Fortunately gifts are not his love language, surprises are, hehehe.

Anyway, while he was still in China he found us a house! We have been looking for a place that is big enough to accommodate our whole family and that we can afford for 15 or 20 years now and it took him going to China find it!

He was pretty excited about it too. I thought it was in China at first, and that he wanted all of us to move there, hahaha. But it was here in northern VA. The house and how it came about is a story all on it's own though so I'll let it suffice to say we move in on Jan 1 and that it has a salt-water hot tub and a chef's kitchen! I'm so excited I want to tell everyone about it... that's the real reason I'm here, aside from checking out the latest noncast of course, hahahahaha!

And yeah, I'm with you Elena... thank god I don't have to watch her videos or read her blog myself, I couldn't do it!

  191. OK. Now her new video Take the leash off
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ks4YKODxfA

the transcript of which is here
    http://tealswan.com/articles/take-the-leash-off

    Now here's some quote:

"It is in fact quite damaging to not admit to what we want. Our lives can get surprisingly far off course doing that. Also, the subconscious mind does a good job of ruining the show instead of running it. "

"Now, before you go on thinking that the concept of admitting to what you want and going straight for it is an adorable albeit trite self help technique, consider that if Adolph Hitler admitted to the fact that he wanted belonging, empowerment and safety, the entire Nazi regime would not have happened. When we feel powerless and alone and betrayed (like Hitler did during his childhood and also during WW1), but we cannot admit to our insecurities and vulnerabilities and wounds, the subconscious mind has to try to get our needs met in any way it can. Leadership gave Hitler that sense of empowerment. Being a part of a group (the Nazis) gave Hitler a sense of belonging. Getting rid of the Jews, (whom he had lifelong conflict with and whom he felt betrayed him and his country during World War 1) made him feel safer."

    What a shitload of crap!!!
